My Rating: 4.5 of 5¿¿

Melissa spots him across the bar at the hotel, where her best friend has dragged her for a week's worth of spa treatments. An escape, from what she has set in motion back home. She knows she has to go back and deal with the fall out, but for now, she is going to try and enjoy this one week of relaxation. She will need all her strength whe she gets back, in order to tie up all the loose ends and make a new beginning.

She is sitting alone at the bar when Derek sees her, and without hesitation he starts making his way over. He is in Arizona for a conference, giving lectures on Internet Security, one of the things his company specializes in. He had just wandered in for a drink when he spotted her, beautiful, but looking unbelievably sad. Not quite sure what is drawing him, he feels the need to make her smile.

Their attraction is immediate and combustible, and for the duration of their one week stay in this Arizona hotel, they can't seem to help but continue to seek each other out. What neither counted on, were the growing intimacy and emotions, as well as the piling up of questions and uncertainties. But when the week is up, they each have to return and deal with life as they knew it, but what did they know?

    *****

Wow, hose me down!!!! ....... This is the second time I have been blown away by the quality of a debut novel, written by a journalist or former journalist. There is something about the ease with which this book seems to flow. A certain rhythm and confidence, all it's own, that you don't often see in debut novels. Don't get me wrong.....those other novels can still be excellent, but the writers are often still finding their comfort zone, their 'groove', if you will.

Tia Louise quite obviously has found her 'groove' already, she tells this story with a confidence that I was able to sense from the first page.

Not only does she tell the story confidently........she tells a damn good tale. An interesting storyline that pulls you in from the start, but only shows little glimpses of an underlying picture, slowly revealing an increasingly intricate plot, with a twist over half way through, that caused me to have a physical reaction.

Her characters are more mature, which is something that certainly appeals to me. Their emotional responses tend to be more mature and thought out and that is perfectly reflected in the writing. These are people who take themselves and others seriously. No playing games when it comes to feelings.

Melissa is a private person. She feels very conflicted, but is determined to finish what she set out to do, by herself and under her own steam. One of the most self-reliant heroines I've encountered. She also has a passionate side she is only now starting to discover and explore, or perhaps, she has only now met the person she feels free enough with to allow that side of her to come out.

Derek is in a complex and difficult situation. He is immediately taken with Melissa, but he can tell right from the start that she is a woman who carries a heavy load. Having taken a long time to get over his own heartbreak, he recognizes pain when he sees it. He acts on duty, feeling and instinct, not necessarily in that order, and leaves any decision making out of the equation, for now.

¿A fabulous debut, with emotional turmoil, tense moments of suspense and thigh-clenching sex scenes!¿

Review: One To Hold #1: One To Hold

One to Hold by Tia Louise is the first book in her One To Hold series. And it is HAWT!

Melissa has had a crap year and is on a week long get away in the desert with her lifelong best friend Elaine. What she doesn't expect to happen is the sexy god-like hook up that completely blows her mind. Is he gonna make a repeat appearance? Does she want him to?

Derek just met the most beautiful but sad woman he's ever seen. Something about Melissa speaks to some part of him that was broken till now. What started as a one night stand, a really sexy one night stand, NEEDS to become more. Every cell in his body insists on it.

There's a passion between these two people that will draw you deep into their stories. Melissa has to decide if her past will limit her future but she first needs to decide if she can ever get past Derek's shocking secret! I absolutely loved this book!

4.5 Stars On holiday with her friend escaping something

    4.5 Stars

On holiday with her friend escaping something we don't quite know how bad at the beginning.......Melissa pops to the bar on her own
and her eyes meet Derek.........hot, muscly, bearded, 'let me show you the desert sky' Derek.

Well.......holy freaking hotness, sparks and smoke coming out of my e-reader! What ' let me show you the desert sky '
actually means these days is.......let me do very very explicit things to you and make you cry out and whimper over and over again!

Jam packed with drama, there is an undertone of what she is escaping from back home and why she can't commit to anything further
like her friend Elaine & Patrick who she meets on the mini break, (who also just happens to be Derek's partner!)

The one week stand continues and it is a tug on your heart strings as you are routing for them, it is a budding romance and the
chemistry is freaking electric! but you know she has issues to deal with first at home and boy when she gets home............

Sloan, her husband, 'he is who she went away from'...........All I will say about him is Tia has him down to a tee...HIM, I had chills when
     he walked in !

Nothing is plain sailing from that point on, there are twists and it is a twist that floored me! HOW COULD HE?????
    how could
anyone be so cruel?????? Can't say anything else as it will spoilt it, but it is very intriguing.......

I had a great time reading this, the week holiday is witty, lol moments, very sexy! And melt your heart romance........but with some twists,
drama and some tough subjects too when she got home....I was on the edge of my frigging seat!

    loved the epilogue! !

    A fan of Tia's !

    5 Stars!
One to hold is a heartwarming incredibly steamy debut novel from author Tia Louise. My heart skipped many beats through the course of this novel it had me feeling true romance and tender love. Everything you could want out of a contemporary romance novel is included in this book.
Melissa Jones needs an escape. She needs a few days to relax and fix her broken life. With that in mind her and her best friend Melissa go to a spa retreat in hopes of giving her courage to face the reality back home. Melissa did not plan on having a handsome man observe her at the bar and she certainly did not plan to have the feelings that she did.
"But he didn't look away. And like a deer caught in headlights, I couldn't either. My breaths stilled as my eyes stayed on his, as I waited for him to release me."
Melissa was a strong character. She stuck to what she wanted and fought until she got it. She faced what she needed to head on and then moved on.
"This was not me. I did not fantasize about hooking up with strange men in bars. And cocky alpha who studied me like I was a frontier landscape he was ready to conquer had never been my type. He probably wanted to tie me up or handcuff me to something. A delicious shiver passed through me at the thought."
Derek is an ex-marine who is "attending" a banker's convention. He sees Melissa across the bar and there's something about her that lures him to her. He is incapable of taking his eyes off of her. After they share an intense and hot staring contest, Derek decides to go for it and take a chance with her.
Together they embark on an affair. The sexual chemistry between these two is undeniable. In a matter of a few seconds they both share the most erotic experience either of them has ever had. A one night stand quickly turns into a one week stand. There week was filled with desire, lust, passion and steamy hot sex.
The first few chapters are panty melters. Melissa and Derek are HOT together.
What started out as an affair quickly turned into something more. Together through there week of fun sexual encounters they fell in love with each other.
“He’d survive without his heart. He had mine to use in its place.”
This book was amazing. It was the first one by Tia Louise that I have read, however; I most definitely won't be my last. I would recommend this to anyone looking for some steamy romance.
"All I can remember is that night in the desert when she'd wanted to say she loved me."

I had no idea how much I would enjoy this book. The romance, the steaminess, the suspense! It was an all around great book that was hard to put down.

The story begins where we meet Melissa who is at a resort with her best friend, Elaine. We are given the sense that Melissa is running from something or someone, but that is not revealed until later. For now, her and Elaine are adamant about spending their week relaxing and receiving spa treatments. One night she ends up meeting the dark, handsome, mysterious Derek Alexander. Their chemistry is off the charts. Melissa and Derek immediately connect and end up hooking up that night. Normal, right? Wrong. Something develops between these two, but they only have one week. Can two attractive people fall for each other in a week?

This fast paced adult romance story captured me the moment I started. The connection between Melissa and Derek was electrifying, exciting, and truly heartfelt. Neither one knew what they were missing in their lives until they found each other. This author did a great job in allowing two perfect strangers to meet and to fall for each other so deeply. This isn't insta-love. Love knows no time limit, no boundaries. Derek and Melissa are proof of this.

This story consumed me not only with romance but with suspense as well. There are secrets on both sides that I did not see coming. While Melissa is battling with her inner demons she finally allows herself to let Derek in. They spend more time together and although scared, she falls for him. Hard and quickly. No pun intended. Ok well maybe. :) Derek is sexy and swoon worthy. I would love to see more of their story, especially from Derek's POV. If you enjoy a hot and suspenseful romance story then this is the one for you. This is a great debut from the author and I am excited to see what she comes up with next.

Melissa and her best friend Elaine go for a spa week for a menta

Melissa and her best friend Elaine go for a spa week for a mental health break - Melissa's idea, she needs to get away from some thing. The first night there she meets Derek and it's fireworks when they get together. He knows she's hiding something and he's being a bit vague. They have the week together, who knows when they'll see each other again.......

I love how Tia kept you guessing what it is Melissa is hiding. I love Melissa's character, she's someone you can relate to or know someone just like her. And girls there's a new book boyfriend on the block in in the form of Derek Alexander.

I was hooked when I started reading this I couldn't put it down till id read it. I loved it. For a Debut book it was amazing, you wouldn't think it was a debut book. Tia is an Author to watch out for.

    This gets 5/5 stars.

I was given this ARC in exchange for my honest review. This is due to be released 10.9.13.

First off, Sloan I hate you. No one should ever underestimate your influence.

Next, Derek I should hate you. But after all your drama, why are you making me feel like this? I'm so upset, because I don't hate you, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Thanks to the author for screwing with my emotions, it was a nice ride.

This book is about a girl named Melissa and a guy she meets name

This book is about a girl named Melissa and a guy she meets named Derek. Melissa is currently trying to get away from a horrible husband. She takes a spa week vacation with her friend Elaine. The timing is perfect she just filed for divorce so she will be away when he is served with the papers. Her first night there she meets a man at the bar. She thinks it’s kinda odd that he choose her over all the skinny pretty girls. Derek comes and introduces himself. They talk for a bit then he asks her to let him show her the desert sky. She goes with him. She has decided that she is going to forget the past year while she is here for the week. They have a steamy encounter while they are out on the patio. He tells her that he will be at the bar every night waiting for her. She didn’t go to the bar the next night. The third day they are there they run into another guy while they were getting lunch in the main part of the hotel. He invited them to have dinner with him and his partner. Elaine agreed for her and Melissa. When they showed up for dinner can you guess who the guys partner was. After a short time Melissa said she wasn’t feeling well and left the table. Derek followed her. He pulled her into the family restroom where after just a few sentences they had another steamy moment. The next day he met her at the pool in the after noon. After a little while they went to her room where they had a very fun afternoon and evening. Melissa was starting to have feeling for him. They met Elaine and Patrick for dinner that evening. After dinner they went for a walk and talked some more and then she told him that if things were different she would tell him she love him right then. The next morning there was a note slipped under the door for her to call the front desk something was left for. She did and they brought it up to her room. When she opened it there was a chain with a floating heart on it. There was also a note that said what I would give you, if you hadn’t already stolen it from Derek. He called and asked her to spend the day with him. They met at the pool but didn’t stay long before going to his room. Melissa has decided she is putting her plan into motion when she gets back. They spend all day in his room. They are really falling for each other. Derek walks her back to her room the next morning. He tells her that what he wrote in the note is true and that he will take her call when ever. Will they try to be together after Melissa does what she needs to? Will Melissa’s husband just let her walk away?

I loved this book right from the beginning. Melissa is in a horrible marriage to a horrible man. In the beginning of the book you just know that her husband has done something to her but you don’t know what. The second half of the book is heartbreaking. Just when she thinks her life is turning around she finds out something there makes it explode again. Derek is such a great caring man. He has been through his fair share of things himself. It’s heartbreaking for him as well in the second half, but so worth reading when you get to the end. I love all the characters in this book and look forward to hopefully finding out more about Elaine and Patrick. This book is very well written with fantastic characters.

I was give this book as a gift in return for an honest review.

One to Hold by Tia Louise is a steamy, wild ride. Melissa's and Derek's need for each other is insatiable and they take every opportunity to get more. When they meet, they can't resist each other despite the fact that they both should. The result is explosive. Melissa clearly has issues from the get-go and though they are not fully revealed until almost the end, it can easily be guessed. Her best friend Elaine (whose own book comes next) features prominently in the story since they are together for a spa vacation. Derek and his partner Patrick are there for a convention and conveniently end up meeting the ladies. Derek is a retired Marine and current private investigator who lost his wife six years before.

The sexy times between Melissa and Derek are frequent, as in they cannot keep their hands off each other. What happens in between the sexy times is just waiting to be together again in some cases. In others, it provides some extra time to see what is happening between Elaine and Melissa and Derek and Patrick. This doesn't lead to a strong character arc. Sometimes there seems to be a lack of emotion in the writing, especially when dealing with the traumatic issue in Melissa's past. A little more emotion there would have been better.

Overall, this was an enjoyable book. It is the first in a series and lots more sexy times are promised.

Great job Tia!! This is my first Tia Louise book and her debut novel at that. I must say I am looking forward to reading more of her work. This book started off with a bang. It's hot and steamy from the beginning and not in an overdone way. Melissa has had a rough time as of late and her week long getaway may be just what the doctor ordered. Derek is seriously HAWT and his idea of a one-week stand may prove more than either of them can handle.I enjoyed the way the story unfolds it's a fairly short book but wasn't rushed and was very engaging. The story line kept me on the edge of my seat with suspense. Yes a suspenseful, HAWT, romance...loved it!! Can't wait to read more from this amazing author

"What I would give you. If you hadn't already stolen it." -D.A. I absolutely loved this story. Everything about it kept my attention and I just couldnt wait to see what would happen next. This book will have you feeling everything the characters go through. It will make you laugh, cry, and smile! This book touches on a subject that you do not read about a lot and will surprise you, but I love how Tia Louise opened my eyes to a new subject that will break your heart and put it back together. I couldn't have asked for a better story with such great characters. The main character Melissa goes through so much, but grows and learns a lot about herself. She really goes through some stuff I would not wish on anybody. Through out her whole ordeal she has her best friend Elaine to help her through it. Elaine is definitely a fun, sweet and a very protective best friend of Melissa. Now the men......Can you say swoon worthy!? I can! I absolutely loved Derek. He is hot, sexy, smart, sweet and most importantly treats Melissa the way she deserves to be treated. There are some Hot scenes that will absolutely have you wanting more. Much more! The whole relationship between Melissa and Derek was just Amazing! The way they were written was Perfect. Then we have Patrick. A great edition to the story. Last but not least we have the mysterious Sloan. He is most definitely not a character that I like at least one bit. I will leave it at that. The ending was Beautiful. I can't wait to see what happens next between all the characters! Thank you Tia Louise for writing such a beautiful story. I cant wait to read more of your work. If you have not read this yet, I totally recommend that you do. You will not be disappointed. Go get your copy today!
