    Seriously?

I was browsng in the random section and came across this book and thought it might be a good purchase for my mother as a surprise "post mothersday gift"

As always I checked the customer reviews before i made the purchase just like i always do and man oh man. Reviews on this site are beyond pointless. Did every parent randomly buy their 8 year old a nook and have the first thing they taught their childen to do on it be to go online and make randm posts to "review" the books??

Seriously people, use the parental controls they are there for a reason.

Just so everyone can find out without reading the horible "reviews" on here, yes this book is in fact the first novel in a SERIES.

No this is not some secret ploy to make more money, nor an attempt to torture you, it is a freaking series! If you have somehow never heard of a series then you might want to take your headout of the sand and do a google search for christs sake.

A series is a way for the authors to simply include as much detail and character development as they waht without being limited to a few hundred pages to reach their target audience.

A series is a GOOD thing! Seriously people this is how you getmore substance out of a book of whatever genre or topic that interests you, not all stories can be told to completion within a single novel.

Please try and control yourself and refrain from posting spam bs complaining that a book is going to have future releases, not only do the low ratings not reflect on anything in regards to the book but they cause people to miss out on an oppertunity to read something they might really enjoy simply because they assume that those who took the time to post a review and rate the book were inteligent individuals whom share a common interest in a genre.

Rant over, stupid people make me rage, to all of the other people complaining ahout the same stupid reviews as i am, Thank you for restoring some of my faith in humanity.

    Shameful and deceitful marketing practices!!

Buyer beware: THIS IS PART ONE WITH A SLIGHTLY NEW COVER.

I always feel like BN is out to trick its customers. This book just came out a few weeks ago and the cover has already been tqueaked. Enough that i thought this was the sequel to part one and almost bought the same damn book twice. I have fallen into this trap before. I do not like dealing with a companyi cannot trust.

When I first read the synopsis for this book, I was sold. While I knew I would like this one, I didn't anticipate that I would be sucked in as quickly as I was. I started reading this one late one night thinking that I would just get a few chapters read to get a feel for it. Well, 3 hours later, in the early hours of the morning, I was done. I loved every minute of this book.

First off, I loved the name Fable. She is spunky, determined, responsible, and really sweet on the inside. She has a tough life. Her mother is an alcoholic and Fable is basically left caring for her teenage brother. So, Fable has always been a hard worker, because that's the life she's known. She's also learned not to get attached to people easily. Then, Fable is surprised to find the college super star waiting for her outside the bar she works at. She's skeptical and guarded. That is until Drew makes her an offer she truly can't refuse. He needs a girlfriend for Thanksgiving break and she's just the girl he wants.

Drew. Drew. Drew. I immediately fell in love with him. He's not your typical super star hero. Drew has a very dark past that he tries to overcompensate for by being the perfect student and athlete. He's never made time for girlfriends before, but he really needs someone to help him get through this break. He chooses Fable because she is not the typical type of girl he would be expected to date. What he didn't predict was falling for her.

Because Fable is an insightful girl, she recognizes that this "perfect" family, isn't perfect. There are a lot of secrets Drew is keeping. Fable is patient with him and encourages him to open up to her. The connection that they have is unavoidable. Neither one of them has ever let anyone get so close before. It was with trust and care that they let themselves fall for each other. I loved seeing them fall in love. That said, this couple has a long way to go. I was happy to see that their story will continue because there was no way to wrap up their story neatly in one book.

One Week Girlfriend was more than I expected and I'm anxiously waiting for the next book now. This book was everything I love. It was steamy, had great characters, and the story was deeper than I had expected. If you have become a lover of anything NA like I have, then you will love this book!

    Good read

Good but wish second part was already released. I don' t mind books in parts especially when they are long like this 425 pp. What I don't like is when they aren't available to purchase cuz i either forget about it or just lose interest in finding out what happens. Writer lost money because of it.

Disappointed that it's a PART 1 and is "to be continued!" I enjoyed it so much but if you want a complete book, don't buy it! It doesn't have an ending! It just has stops and says to watch for the sequal "soon." I don't like reading a book that is a series without being told up front that it is a part 1! That being said, will I buy the sequal? Yes!

Holy Moly, this book is HOT!!

I must say that I really loved this book. First of all, I loved that the girl in the book is strong but still sensitive and understanding. I sometimes get annoyed when the heroine of the book is not strong or independent, but this girl is fantastic. Second, the chemistry these two have is sensational and refreshing. I would give this book more stars if it was possible cause it is that good. Looking forward to the follow up, The Second Chance Boyfriend.

Every now and then I pick a book listed in the news feed on the home page and immediately read it. A blogger had just reviewed this book and I thought , hmmm I love the cover and she said it had angst...SOLD!

    MARSHMALLOW!!!

I love it, and to know what I am referring to you must read the book.

The premise of the story doesn't seem to be too unique upon first glance, but its exactly what the title implies and yet is soooo much more and better. I did not expect to find such emotion and even some angst in this story but was pleasantly surprised when I did. The story is told from alternating POV's which quite honestly I don't normally like, but in this story it is done perfectly. The reader is continually drawn into what the other character is thinking due to the deep and emotional story lines taking place. Thats right there are real true deep back stories in this book, but I can't tell you what they are due to spoilers. Just TRUST me on this.

Fable is the lead female character and yes her name is quite distracting but fitting. She is strong and not a whining virgin. I love that she is sassy with a backbone. I love that she is the one that is strong over the big hunky jock that is Drew Callahan. So unexpected.

SWOONWORTHY DREW is HOTTTT! Not only is he hot he is deep. A fine ass football jock with.... baggage, lots and lots of baggage. He is so surprised by Fable and all that she can give him its touching. Not many young male lead characters grasp the need for this. My favorite sceene....under the trellis. SIGHHHHH!

The back and forth is typical as they get to know each other and reveal their insecurities. Typical but I loved every single moment.
    Great job Monica Murphy!
    P.S.
Adele can SUCK IT! I hope she gets hers in book two

    Warning

This books ends abruptly and says at the end there is a second installment. There are some pretty serious issues introduced in this "installment". I don't know if I will buy the next part because the characters are so completely ill-prepared to appropriately deal with the kind of damage described in this book.

    Heart breakingly Angsty and Intense

Over the last year I have been hearing nothing but Drew + Fable this, Drew + Fable that. All my friends have swooned and fallen all over themselves begging me to read this book because I just HAD TO! I usually don't follow hype because I have gotten burned on certain books based on hype alone. When I finally gave in and read it I was absolutely shocked by how deep the story got. One Week Girlfriend was one EFFED up story full of drama, passion and hard choices with characters full of depth and pain.

This wasn't your average tortured boy meets girl story. NO. This was a gritty experience that made me squirm and made me sick at times. It wasn't just one character with issues, both Drew and Fable had separate circumstances that drive them to do what they do. Although I have to say that to me, Drew's set of issues were just a smidgen more intense.

So starting with Fable, she's a young woman with a totally whacked up family. Her mother is flighty at best and she's basically the provider for her little brother. She's got the classic "never felt loved or wanted" thing going for her that has lead to her to make a few decisions with her body leaving her with a loose reputation in town. I could understand Fable. I got why she was chasing that feeling of being loved and desired even if only for a moment. I absolutely loved Fable. She was the perfect mix of smart, sassy and vulnerable that makes me fall for the female leads. She wasn't the town slut by any means but her reputation would suggest otherwise and it hurt me seeing how it affected her. Dropping out of school to make a living for her brother was courageous and an absolutely selfless thing for her to do. Even knowing that the money she makes will probably be blown by her mother, who I hated even though she doesn't appear much. Because of her lot in life I understood why she took Drew up on his offer to be his pretend girlfriend for a week.

Drew Callahan. He's made every single book boyfriend list for the past year and I had no idea why until recently. Every woman loves the tortured hero and I have to say I can see why he's every one's favorite. Drew comes from a wealthy family and on the outside he's got it made. Football scholarship, healthy happy family and mister big man on campus. The darkness that lurks inside is buried in  place where no one else can see and he suffers daily with his past. Drew is hiding a big secret within his family and has for years. Without spoiling anything in case I WASN'T the last person on earth to read this, this particular secret involves his wicked step mother. Little glimpses and surfaced memories from Drew's perspective had me clued in to what was going on before it was actually revealed and I was sickened. With every page turned my stomach got progressively more queasy the more was revealed about his secret. A secret that fable started picking up on when she spends the holidays with his family pretending to be his girlfriend. He knew her reputation and had no intention of using her for anything but a means to an end not knowing that she was exactly what he needed. I loved watching him open up to her and finally confide in her what happened. I was torn between feeling sorry for him and hating him honestly. Even though he couldn't control what happened to him and breaking out of something that has controlled you for so long isn't easy, I still found myself not liking him a little bit. I don't know why I felt that way, I just had mixed emotions about him.

The writing in One Week Girlfriend was deep, well thought out and paced perfectly to keep me hooked on the story. Plot twists and sudden revelations had me gasping and emotional. I didn't feel what everyone else felt for this couple in this book though. I did enjoy watching Drew and Fable connect and start to genuinely care about each other but I felt like the actual back story took away from that for me. The focus was so heavily on what happened to Drew that I didn't feel their connection completely. Like it almost overshadowed what should have been a healing thing for them. That's not a bad thing because there are several more books and their story isn't over. I'm almost afraid to read on and relive all the trauma he had to endure and have to feel that queasy icky feeling once everything is dredged up again. I can feel it in my bones. It always gets worse before it gets better and from what I can tell these two go on a journey not to be forgotten. Even though I didn't fall head over heels in love with the story of Drew and Fable I hope to continue reading their story and maybe I will fall for them down the road once everything is resolved. I can certainly see the merit in a couple who fights against all odds to be together and believe me, these two have some serious odds. One Week Girlfriend isn't for the faint of heart so I recommend a reading buddy. I could have used one too honestly. It's emotional, extremely intense and heartbreaking and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves an epic couple as Drew & Fable are.

    Crazy turmoil...I couldn't get enough

Drew has been thrown into absolutely the worst case scenarios anyone person can be, and he has experienced them all at the hands of his family. Thank god for Fable and her own screwed up life matched with her perseverance to say anyone who is suffering....she comes to his rescue.

I want book two to come out soon......MARSHMALLOW

Good story with likable characters. For once a strong female heroine!! Plot "twists" were predictable, but since the characters weren't it wasn't disappointing. Very similar to the 50 Shades dark back story. Author needs a little practice not spoiling opportunities for suspense. Overall I wish it had been longer, because despite my issues with the book, I liked the main characters enough to want more time with them.

Cant wait to read the next part

Came across this book as a suggestion and am so glad i decided to read a sample of it....once i finished it i wanted to read more and bought the book on my nook right then and there. Definitely a quick read but a great story. Already bought the next book to read!

The two main characters and their stories pull you in and you feel their pain and happiness as you read it. I got excited as I read each chapter and the descriptions made me feel like i was watching it while reading it, I could see them plain as day.

Definitely a great book to cuddle up and read on a cold rainy day or a beautiful day outside. No matter where you read it you surely will enjoy.

One Week Girlfriend will make you laugh, cry and angry. There are parts that will leave you breathless as well as parts that will leave you wanting to hurt someone. (Well, a certain someone.)

Fable Maguire works two jobs just to support her family, the teenage brother to whom she's more a mother, and her mother who's more inclined to get drunk and spend time with her current boyfriend than family. When Andrew Callahan offers her money, Pretty Woman style, to be his pretend girlfriend for a week, she jumps at the chance to make a little extra money.

Drew knows he's using Fable. He knows it's wrong but he needs her. Going home for Thanksgiving is just something that he cannot do by himself. When he and Fable get to his hometown thinks between them start to change. Fable is the first person to ever see him for him, to see through his walls at the person beneath. It both scares and delights him. Maybe, just maybe, he's met someone he can tell all his secrets to, secrets that shame him and make him feel guilty.

One Week Girlfriend is not at all what I was expecting it to be, but this is a good thing. I was going into it thinking it was going to be a simple book to read. A book where I didn't have to think about anything and just enjoy the world. I was wrong, but gladly so. I was able to figure everything out before it was all revealed but that's okay, I didn't mind.

Drew and Fable are so good together. I don't think I can recall a couple that I wanted to end up together so much in a long time. He's so far into himself that he needs her to bring him out of his shell. He makes her actually feel alive for one, like someone actually cares for her.

One Week Girlfriend is simply an awesome book. You'll not want to put it down and read it straight through. The characters are real and the story is engrossing.
