Missy and Zach were once stepbrothers and stayed friends for more than 10 years. They get along so well and he is crazy about her. But Missy is a though nut to crack and Zach has a lot of trouble to finally get his girl. I loved this novella and it is so sweet and romantic. Always a good reading and well written by Noelle Adams. I highly recommend.

Missy and Zach have been friends since they were teenagers, when their parents met and married, then stayed friends when Zach's mom took off for greener pastures after only a year. Being 18, Zach decided to stay right where he was, getting his own place and working for Missy's Dad in his landscaping business. While there was no hint of anything untoward when they were younger, the truth is that Zach's had feelings for Missy for the last few years (now that they are several years older) but he's kept them hidden, not wanting to jeopardize his friendship with Missy. It's Missy who starts to see Zach in a new light, one that makes her uncomfortable, not only because he's her ex-step brother, but also because he's her best friend. When the attraction between them sparks a fire that won't go out, will Missy give in to her feelings or play it safe? I'll be the first to admit that I am not a fan of the step-sibling romance story trend. The only thing that would make me pick up a book with this kind of title is if it's written by a trusted author - and that's the case here as Noelle Adams is one of my go-to authors, and I trust that no matter the title and story content, she'll make it good. Luckily the step-sibling background here didn't bother me - Missy was 13 and Zach was 17 when their parents met, married and divorced a year later, and they only lived together that one year, becoming really good friends. That friendship continued after the divorce, and when Zach decided to stay in town and not move away with his mother and her latest man. The story is told entirely from Missy's point of view, in which Zach comes across as a friendly, hardworking, dependable guy - definitely good hero material! When she realizes that she's got other feelings for him, she's quick to shut them down, as she doesn't want to risk their friendship. But finding out that Zach returns that attraction is heady, and leads to some steamy scenes between them. Missy is the only one with doubts though. Her best friend and even her father encourage her to give Zach a chance and to not use their past relationship as step-siblings as a barrier to a happy future. I appreciated that the only person who thought that was a hindrance was Missy herself. This story is linked to the first one in the series in that Missy and Vanessa (heroine of book 1) are best friends, and that it's Missy's families company that is responsible for the landscaping of Eden Manor. So while they are loosely linked, it can easily be read as a standalone. I like how this series is unfolding with each set of characters playing a part in the restoration of the mansion, first seen in the story Accidental Bride. Overall, a sweet and sexy friends to lovers story. 4 stars.
