Overview

Coach Les Steckel understands that life is difficult. It's marked by disappointments and defeats. But what's important is what you do with those defeats. One Yard Short is the amazing story of Les Steckel. A coach for 32 years, with 23 of those seasons coaching in the NFL, Steckel has been through his shares of ups and downs, having experienced the pain and disappointment of job loss time and time again in a way that only professional sports coaches know.

A lesser man would have given up and become bitter, but in the midst of each disappointment, each "failure," God was there, picking him up, dusting him off, telling Coach Steckel that He believed in him and that there was a special plan for his life. In One Yard Short, Coach Steckel teaches readers through his own life lessons and football experiences how to hear God's voice in the midst of disappointments and failures.

One Yard Short Truly Inspired Me!

Les Steckel, a former NFL coach, is a writing genius. Les taught me how to turn my defeats into victories. He showed me how with the help of God you can do anything. Les¿s writing showed me how to think about life and what things in life I should treasure. In this book, Les uses situations from his coaching career and his life, to show you how God helped him get through the situations. In the book, Les explains how he and his team fell one yard short in the NFL Superbowl game. This was a giant defeat for him yet he was able to turn it into a positive experience with the help of God. He uses many other game situations where he explains how God helped him make the choice and get him through the tough times. I thought this was a great book and would recommend it to anyone who likes sports and needs a good message about God. I think you should read it because the story is very well explained and gives great examples of faith. I think that this was a very religious book and people who do not believe in God may not understand the messages very well. There was nothing I did not like about the book. I thought the whole book was very well written. I believe that the major message was that God has a path for all of us. Les tells you that God has been their for you even when you didn¿t think he was there. Les says during the book, ¿ I think you¿ll find that God has been working in your life all along¿. I think that this quote shows you how God is always there for you no matter what. I am very glad I decided to read this book. It really inspired me in my life.

    Outstanding...

An inspirational story as related by former NFL coach and now president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Les Steckel. It's also a story that deserves to be shared, and let all know that God really does have a plan for all of us...
