When Scarlet realized Penelope was dumping Sean, her best friend, she was devastated. Penelope was the love of his life, the woman of his dreams. Scarlet knew how far her best friend was going to fall and she had to catch him. Scarlet became Sean's rock and helped him through a very painful breakup, but her own hidden desires bubbled to the surface in the process. When they finally gave in and slept together, she thought it was the start of their new relationship. Unfortunately, Sean didn't feel the same.

Humiliated and heartbroken, Scarlet moved across the country and found what she least expected. She rekindled her damaged relationship with her brother, who she hadn't spoken to in a year, and her brother's best friend was attractive and interesting. Their relationship was natural and unforced, and she was immediately drawn to him. Would she be able to get over Sean, forget about him, by sleeping with Cortland, or would that just be another repeated mistake?

Todd was raised in California where she attended California State University, Stanislaus and received her bachelor's degree in biological sciences, then continued onto her master's degree in education. While science is interesting and a hobby, her passion is writing. After writing novels as a small child, her craft grew until she found the confidence to show her closest friends-which is how Only For You, the first installment of the Forever and Always series, and the Soul Saga series began. When she isn't reading or writing, she is listening to indie rock music. Her current favorite artist is Mumford and Sons, whom she credits most of her inspiration for her novels. She also enjoys running and swimming, as well as working as a high school teacher. She also works as an assistant editor at She has an unusual obsession with dogs, even though she doesn't own one, and her favorite vacation spot is Disneyland, which she visits several times a year. The most important aspect of her life is her friends, whom contributed so much time and energy into all of her novels. According to E. L. Todd, "Without them, Only For You and Soul Catcher never would have come to fruition. I am theirs forever."

I bought this book because I loved the cover. Sadly, the book did not live up to the hype. I managed to get through the book, but was often frustrated while doing so. At this point I have not purchased the second book and am not sure if I am going to. I think it is better if I just quit here. Read at your own risk! Enjoy!

I am not a prude, but the amount of vulgar cursing was way too much. I will not read another book by this author.

I do not recommend this book.  I read it, but it was tough to get through.  The lack of contractions during dialogue was hard to read. Honestly, if I could, I would give this book less than 1 star.

These characters really don't have an understanding of what true LOVE is. The only honest relationship I got out of this was the love and bond between a brother and sister. Other than that, "I love you" was just used superficially. The only character i really liked was the brother. The rest were immature, superficial, selfish twits. In short if most of the world really thinks in these thought patterns then it is no wonder that America and is going to the devil in a handbasket. The worst part is, a sick part of me wants to read the rest of the story just because i have a twisted habit of needing to finish a story line just because i started it. On second thought, I will pass because i like to read for enjoyment and not be so frustrated about not being able to reach in the book and slap most of these characters silly. Read at your own risk...

I received a free copy for an honest review. What to say? The beginning of the book for me was a little slow. It took me a few chapters to finally get sucked in to the story. Did I get sucked in? Of course. The book was well written and once I got in a few chapters I didn’t want to put it down. Some of the things were a little predictable between Sean and Scarlet but plenty kept you on your toes. I loved Scarlet. At first I thought she is nuts for acting like she did during a certain part but then I thought about it and honestly women mistaken things like that often. So I understood. It was sad to see her heart broken but nice to see her pull herself back together. To watch her relationship with her brother was awesome. I have a brother that I am very close to like them and it made me smile to read about them. “Should I enroll you at daycare?” I asked. “So you can find some new friends to play with?” “Actually, I wouldn’t mind that at this point. My own sibling is too busy for me.” Sean on the other hand had mixed feelings from me. I loved him then I was mad at him and with the ending I’m just not sure how I feel about him. I think the ending did save him some but the fact that he went to her and still saying in his head that he still loved the ex just rubbed me the wrong way. If you’re not completely over the ex you have no right to tell someone new that you love them and to start a relationship with them. That has me worried for Scar. Cortland had me laughing. At one point I did wish that him and Scar ended up together and she said screw Sean. I loved him and how he was with Scar. Would love to read more about him. So basically I loved all the characters. They were all played out well. There are some steamy sex scenes. Which if I had to admit to anything it would be that I actually laughed at the dialogue during these scenes. I know that people really do talk like that in real life during sex but it was the first time I read it like that in a book and it actually threw me off a little. All in all a great book. Would definitely recommend it.

Found the story intriguing. Story seemed rushed at times but ended pretty well. Would recommend.

great setting and author is awesome in descriptive phrasing. I could not connect with any charactor because it seemed so superficial almost artificial in relationships with the exception of the main charactor and her brother.

Only for You by E.L. Todd is the first book in her Forever and Always series. In this book we meet two best friends, Scarlet and Sean. What they have always assumed is a completely platonic relationship actually contains unrealized undercurrents of more that neither have ever acted on or been aware of over the years. When Sean is dumped by the woman he was almost about to propose to, Scarlet is there to help him through. When their one night of passion goes horribly awry the next day she hightails it out of New York and heads to her brother in Seattle for refuge. Taking advantage of the fresh start and the escape from heartbreak and an abusive boss, Scarlet finally gets on her feet with the loving and generous help of her brother and his best friend. Well-paced with great character development this was an interesting beginning into the lives of Scarlet and Sean. This is the beginning of their story which then continues in Forever and Always, book two in the series. While at times I wanted to throttle both of these characters for their naïveté, some of their rash decisions were closer to what people would actually do in real life and I appreciated that they were not perfect.

I felt like I could relate to Scarlet. Falling in love with your best friend and not realizing it. I didn't realize how much I love my best friend until he kissed me when I was having a hard time with my ex. He has helped me through so much and this book made me realize that there can be more to friendships than what you think. I will definitely read more of this series. :)

A 3 is all I can give this book. I personally didn't exactly care for how this book flowed. The story was OK & the romantic scenes were great, but it just didn't do it for me.
