Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Michael Jung PhD
Everyone loves the delicious donuts Big Mama makes fresh every morning. But when a fast-talking salesman offers Big Mama a trial period with his robot cook Mr. Baker, suddenly Big Mama's old fashioned home cooking is threatened by the bizarre contraption's tendency to make donuts out of anything—even garbage! Now everyone's favorite donut maker must find a way to get rid of the out-of-control machine, its terrible donuts, and its overzealous salesman! The gross-out humor and non-stop chaos in this short comic will appeal to younger readers (particularly fans of frenetic cartoons like "Sponge Bob Square Pants"), although older readers may find themselves wishing the pace was not quite so frenetic. Fans should also check out Eliopoulos' popular Marvel Comics "Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius" series, which recasts the children of Marvel's superhero team The Fantastic Four as mischievous "Calvin and Hobbes"-esque characters.
