Meet the Author

Kathleen Dudden Andrasick has taught literature and composition to teenagers and adults for fifteen years. She is Co-director of the Hawaii Writing Project and has been an instructor at New Hampshire Writing Program. For the past eight years she has been teaching literature, expository and creative writing, and Advanced Placement English at Iolani School, Honolulu, where she is now department head. Ms Andrasick is married, with two sons, and a foster son and two foster daughters in college.

    Most Important Book of my career

    This is the single text I keep coming back to again and again when it comes to working with students on papers, journals, and thinking about novels. The principles she employs can be used with any title, with any group of students. I value the group dynamic and logging of student interactions model, the way she shows how to help students work to develop their own topics about literature, and the way she models the teacher's role in asking questions, remaining silent, and allowing students to emerge with their own ideas rather than the teacher's pre-planned essay topics. Brava!
