I really enjoyed Mark Russinovich's ZERO HOUR and the main characters Jeff and Daryl in that story. Operation Desolation is a short story that continues with mostly Jeff on a quick thriller about the troublesome world of information security. You don't have to read ZERO HOUR to enjoy Operation Desolation. If you do enjoy Operation Desolation I highly recommend reading ZERO HOUR and then getting Trojan Horse in September 2012.
