How was he ever going to win her back? Wasn't she the one who asked him: 'Do you want to chase clouds forever?' Well, then he had to do some things he wasn't too proud of, so that they could live this diamond life, become 'un vrai monsieur', get some respect. Be a boss in his own right. Wasn't that what she wanted? One day I will make her love me again ...' Saigon 1967. As Indochina explodes into a bloody war, Baptiste Croc expands his father-in-laws' opium business. Now the Americans have a taste for white powder and Europe is demanding more and more. He could soon be rich beyond his wildest dreams. It would be perfect but for one thing. He wants his wife to love him again. While Mao's revolution spills over into Hong Kong, Douglas Ho, Red Pole of the Fei Leung triad establishes heroin factories inside the Burma jungles. The opium business is going big time. Soon the mafia arrive. But while Noelle Croc dreams of the lover she left behind, his son returns to Indochina to fly in America's secret war in Laos. But his own affair with a New York journalist spills over into politics. Does he show her the secrets of Air Opium, or will Asia corrupt him as it corrupted his father and everyone who touches the opium trade? Air Opium is the second book in the 'Opium' saga, tracing the growth of the international heroin trade in Asia 1960-1969.

He travels regularly to research his novels and his quest for authenticity led him to run with the bulls in Pamplona, pursue tornadoes across Oklahoma and black witches across Mexico, go cage shark diving in South Africa and get tear gassed in a riot in La Paz.
