Oprah was a very poor child who lived with her grandmother in a poor town. She went to school of course, but what Oprah didn't like was that she wasn't able to afford the clothing nor shoes that american girls did. Her grandma tried doing the best she could to buy her shoes, everyday that Oprah arrived from school she had to go and deliver water around the town. Once she arrived home she had to take off her shoes and could only wear them while she was at school. Oprah wasn't able to do hair styles how the american girls did, all she could do was wear it in a bun or braids. Her mother left her when she was a young child and moved in with another man, that is her other baby's dad. I enjoyed reading this novel because I thought it had intresting facts and shows also how Oprah use to be before and who she is now. After everyhting she had to go through she is now pretty much a millionaire. I didn't like the way that her mom Vernita Lee treated her because she was from another man. She treated her like she wasn't her daughter. I just didn't think that was right because she still has her blood. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
