OPT-OUT
A Suspense Short Story from the author of the Evan Gabriel Scifi/Adventure Trilogy

A massive global social network announces an initiative to encourage its nearly one billion users to donate organs and body parts with just the click of a mouse. Millions of potential transplant recipients rejoice, but there is a dark side. For a young, newly engaged professional in Portland Oregon, that dark side arrives wearing a smile and designer suit during a chance encounter at a train station.

Have you given any thought to the recent announcement of the Facebook Organ Donation initiative? What are the pitfalls and dangers of socially networking body parts? Should you OPT-OUT?

Ripped from today's social networking headlines, OPT-OUT is a short story of approximately 3,600 words.

Also available from Steve Umstead: Gabriel's Redemption (Book 1), Gabriel's Return (Book 2), Gabriel's Revenge (Book 3), Gabriel's Journey (complete collection), Gabriel: Zero Point (prequel), The Awakening (scifi short), Special Delivery (horror short)

    NEVER SAFE PART 2

PART 3 AT "CHAR" RESULT ONE!!! *Flashback: The blonde mysterious boy who was staring at me started to walk towards me.* Part 2: "Umm...was I hallucinating or something? I saw you pull out a sword and...and...kill something," the boy told me. "Nah, you weren't hallucinating, I just think that you're a demigod and can see through the Mist pretty well," I assured him. "A what?" he asked. "A demigod. Half human, half Greek god. My godly parent is Athena and my name is Maryam," I replied. "Who's mine? I live with my mom, and she is definitely a mortal," said the boy. "You'll get claimed at camp most likely," I told him. "Speaking of camp, we better get you there quick. The monsters will be on our trail soon." "But what about my brother? He's 11 and his name is Lucas. My name is Cole, by the way," Cole said. "OK, take us to your brother," I replied. Cole lead Griffin and I to the far end of the baseball field. A boy who looked pretty much like Cole, except had brown hair, was sitting with his friends eating lunch. "Hey Lucas, we gotta go now," said Cole. "Whats wrong Cole?" Lucas wondered. "No time to explain. We HAVE to leave NOW!" I half shouted. "Okay okay," Lucas said. Five minutes later, Cole, Lucas, Griffin, and I were on pegasus flying to Camp Half-Blood. We got there in 10 minutes. We landed right next to Thalia's tree. "Chiron! We got some new campers!" I yelled. Chiron trotted up to us and introduced himself to Cole and Lucas. "Since your godly parent is unknown, you'll sleep in the Hermes cabin for the time being. We've got lots of great activities, like sword fighting, archery, arts and crafts, the climbing wall, everything. You're soo gonna love it here!!!" I added. "Cool!" was their reply. "By the way, what is you boys' last name?" Chiron asked. Cole replied, "Grace. Cole and Lucas Grace." "Oh my gods. That means that...that...you guys are..." I said. "Yes. They are sons of-" Two golden lightning bolts that appeared over both Cole and Lucas' head cut Chiron's sentence off. "Well congratulations, Cole and Lucas, sons of Zeus!" Chiron exclaimed. Finally, a bunch of campers and satyrs alike noticed that there were two new campers and they had just gotten claimed as the sons of Zeus. HOPE YOU ENJOYED PART 2!!! PART ONE AT THE SON OF SOBEK, PART 3 AT "CHAR" RESULT 1!!!!! CHARACTER APPS NEEDED!!!!!! POST CHARACTER APPS AND COMMENTS AT SHOPPING RESULT THREE!!!!! THANKS!!! -Alyssa &star
