Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Allison Fetters
Kristina Kim is a little girl who loves the color orange. When the announcement is made at school that there will be a Fall Ball, Kristina is elated. She knows that every ball requires the presence of a princess so the decision is easily made of what costume she will assume. Her initial reaction is to wear the orange princess dress she wore last Halloween; however, she soon decides that a new, fancier dress is required. Grandma Soo plans to make the ultimate princess dress, but Kristina is sorely disappointed when the finished product is presented to her. Grandma Soo has made a Korean princess dress in keeping with their heritage and not the American princess dress of which Kristina has dreamed. When Grandma Soo learns of Kristina's disappointment, the two of them set out to redesign the dress as the perfect Korean-American princess gown. Through the experience, Kristina learns of the acceptance of others in spite of individual differences. This entertaining book, a part of the "Perfectly Princess series," is a learning tool about multicultural families living in America. Kristina's experience shows that a happy balance can be achieved between one's two cultures. Reviewer: Allison Fetters

My 6 year old is an independent reader. This book was interesting, fun, and exciting for her. Definitely "girlie" as it focused on a princess ball dress. She didn't want to put it down!

I got this book at a bookstore in Philadelphia. My favorite part was when Kristina Kim went to the ball. Her Grandmom is in this book through the entire story. I think girls four and older would like it. Everyone should buy this book!
