I bought this book on a whim because I was interested in making body care recipes for the first time... It opened my eyes to how simple (and fun) this can be and now I can't seem to make enough! The book is well organized, easy to follow and full of great recipes. It includes overviews of all ingredients, a wide variety of recipes and guidelines on storage, shelf life, skin type, etc. In the past year I've replaced many of my store bought products with home made versions and given many as gifts to friends and family. Almost everything I've made has been met with great reviews, I am VERY happy with this book.

I was intrigued by the many salves, lotions, and lip balms that she and her children made as gifts. Over the years I have been trying to eliminate chemicals from my home and now that I have children with allergies and sensative skin I have become more motivated to make big changes and this book has been my springboard. First,I found Organic Body Care Recipes at my local library and checked it out multiple times. I read and reread many recipes, marked several to try, and gathered supplies. All of the ingredients are natural, organic, and often already in your home. Some acquiring of essential oils may be necessary, but worth it. There are so many chapters with wonderful recipes and gift ideas. I highly recommend this book. Whether you want organic lotion and lip balm or a natural alternative for shampoo this book is for you.

I absolutely loved this book. It was very informative. I especially liked the ingredient dictionary with the properties of the ingredients used and possible substitutions. All in all... very good book.

I've been using these recipes for a full month now. My search for a book like this because I've struggled with sensitive skin and moderate acne for 29 years. I had gotten so frustrated with the irritation that results from trying to deal with these two difficult issues together. Finally this winter I'd had enough and began using the all natural, very simple recipes from this book. My skin feels amazing! It used to burn when I applied store-bought moisturizers and my skin was always blotchy and flaky. Now my skin is even toned, no longer has dry patches and sebum production seems to be regulated. I still use a little of the prescription medication for the acne but am tinkering with the essential oils that will hopefully soon replace the medication. I'm turing 40 soon and the fine lines that were beginning to appear around my eyes have plumped up. It's so wonderful to have comfortable skin after years of irritation and also so wonderful to wake up to skin that no longer glares back angrily from the mirror! Two of my kids are beginning to get pimples and now I can help them avoid that awful teenage phase of trying all the harsh drugstore acne products I tried as a teen. You'll love this book!
