Overview

Hey, big spender--pull out that bill and...fold it. Duy Nguyen, the popular author of Dinosaur Origami and many other books, presents a creative new way to make the most of your money.

Why spend your bucks buying origami paper--when the money itself can be the paper? It adds a unique twist to traditional origami projects, plus you don't have to look any further than your wallet to find crafting materials. The clever projects, which range from a Jedi to a horseshoe crab, an American Eagle to an Oriental dragon, are absolutely fantastic. Some use a single dollar, while others need two or three bills and demand a little more skill--but with practice, patience, and Duy Nguyen's detailed illustrations of every fold, you will undoubtedly master all the techniques. For a little extra fun, amazing facts about U.S. currency appear throughout...such as how many times you can fold a dollar bill before it will tear--but don't worry, these projects will keep your money intact.

For Experts, Its Great; Beginners, not so much

So, to preface this, I agree with "origami master's" statement that you should be an old hand with origami if you wish to try this book out. However, I didn't read his review before I bought the book (I was in a hurry to get something), and have all the expertise required to fold paper footballs rather terribly. Therefore, as soon as I opened this book, I was utterly lost. Mountain and Valley folds meant as little to me as "proof" of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. While I'd recommend this book to those who know their origami from their creative towel animal designs, if you are just starting out, don't be fooled by the books simplistic design and cheap price, or you'll end up like me, and make a bunch of "basketballs" out of the pages of the book itself.

    bad directions

I have never done origami but was inticed by the neat pictures of things you could make from dollar bills, so I bought this book. Unfortunately, I couldn't make many of these projects because the directions are very difficult to follow and they seem incomplete.

    A winner!

my grandson has done a lot of origami, with assorted types of papers but this was a totally different idea for him, and he liked it a lot!

    NOT recommended

My first time out, I read through the instructions and names of folds but it was totally not enough. The book referred to folds that weren't even explained, the instructions were confusing, didn't always match the pictures and it was unclear how to even get to what the picture showed. Maybe if you're an origami pro you'll like this but I'm very disappointed and wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

    A reviewer

Bought as a beginner because thats all B&N had on shelf. The Basics Folds section showed only about half the folds required in the diagrams. Also, only offers about 10 diagrams. NOT FOR BEGINNERS

Excellent. This book is the simply the best oragami book you'll ever find. However, only someone who has experience will understand.
