This was an amazing book, just incredible. I have to say the ending did me in just like the last one, but I would expect nothing less from one truly amazing author. This had me in near tears, laughing hard and just plain smiling at the sheer cuteness (if that's even a word) at both Daemon and Katy. I promise you will love it. All hail Jennifer L. Armentrout!

One hell of a cliffhanger... Rarely do I finish reading a book

    One hell of a cliffhanger...

Rarely do I finish reading a book and have nothing negative to say about it. Simply put, Origin was amazing from beginning to end. A lot of gaps were filled in and questions answered.

Daemon... good lord, do I love his character more and more with each passing installment. He just can't get any better. The dual POV was masterfully done in a  way that didn't create repetition but rather filled in the blanks during the time that Katy was captive. Being inside his head is equal parts amusing and swoon-worthy. His priorities become startlingly clear in this book and does nothing but make you love Daemon Black all the more.

Katy of one of the most tolerable female main characters ever. Her character is constantly maturing and learning from past mistakes. Readers get to see just how strong Katy is. Her frustrations, terror, and heartbreak made her that much more relatable. And can we just mention DB. How cute was it that she named her lovely little alien after Daemon (even cuter was that he bought the thing for her in the first place).

In this installment we learn about the various motives behind Daedalus. While some of the motives behind kidnapping hybrids are the furthest from nefarious, other motives are just downright terrible--for example the means to creating origin. Origins, especially those little children of the corn, are freaky. Aside from a select few, I'm not sure what to make of them. Readers also discover that the Luxen are not truly the good guys in this scenario. They are just as bad, if not worse than the Arum. Those who read Obsession already knew that though. Hunter and Daemon... yeah that scene had me laughing and swooning all at the same time.

While the book isn't wholly predictable, certain events were just screaming at me. I'm not surprised by the development between Dawson and Beth. In fact I was calling that one halfway through the book. Matthew, however took me by surprise. I did not expect him to do what he did. Ash and Andrew... can't say I was too surprised by that. Finally there's Archer. I was hoping he would turn out like he did. He's a likable character. Luc's greater involvement in this installment was most welcome. I love Luc's wit and attitude.

Finally, that ending... what the hell? It's truly the type of cliffhanger that leaves you anxiously awaiting the final installment in the series. I have my predictions and don't think the ending was all that foreboding. Then Jennifer L. Armentrout is not afraid to take it there (as shown in her Covenant series). Here's to hoping things are not as horrible as we're left to believe. I'm putting my faith in Daemon!

Let's discuss the next book... and the fact that it's not due to come out until some unforeseeable summer date. The time has come to sit back and wait (none too patiently).

Origin is sure not to disappoint. So, if you're wondering whether this book will be as good as the rest of the series then you have nothing to fear. It exceeds expectations.

5 stars - What a ride! If it's possible, I love this series more with this book than I did with Obsidian!

    What a ride!

Let me start with the shock value.  I'm pretty good at figuring out plots.  I read a lot of books so most things do not surprise me.  But in this book?  In this book, I was surprise and then I was shocked and then I was totally blown away.  I had this idea in my head about what this book was gonna be about and I was totally and completely wrong.  Obviously, I can't tell you what surprised me so much.  I will say that Daemon didn't do what I expected him to do but it was 100% Daemon Black.  I think that's what I love best about JLA books.  Her characters are who they are.  I never question if her characters are doing things out of character - they are real.

I've seen different sides of Daemon and seen him grow over the course of the series but he is still that confident and gorgeous douche that has this incredible sweet, protective side when it comes to Katy.  He's an alien making a statement.  And he's pissed off in this book - so watch out.  I loved his passion, his strength, his compassion, his love, his priorities, and his determination.  He belongs on the cover by himself for this book.

I so loved the dual POV in this one.  To listen to him think was so incredible.  Really he is who he is.  He thinks the way he acts and I loved that.  I loved being inside his head when he kissed his kitten.  I loved being inside his head when he reacted to the shock value in this book.  I loved being in his head when the whole world changes.  And it must certainly changes.  JLA said this book is a game changer and she wasn't kidding or downplaying it one little bit.

I loved Katy in this story.  She's really going through some hard times.  She has to deal with who she is and what she is forced to do.  She doesn't want to become the inhuman shells she's seen in some of the other hybrids.  But there are some huge shocks for her as the story unfolds.  The meaning of the title was one of those big shocks.  Trying to figure out who to trust and who to stay away from was so hard on her.  Trying to be human was hard on her.  Being away from Daemon was hard on her.  Things change for the book blogger.  But she is still Katy and she misses her books and her blog.

Speaking of books and blogs, I loved how even though things were hard and crazy there were some sweet references to books in this one.  I loved that.  I love that Katy is a book blogger.  It makes her real to me.

Oh and let me just say that this author has no problem killing off characters.  I was really surprised how many we lost in this book.  I was okay with some and upset about others.  One in particular, I was just starting to like and then bam, gone.  Game changer for sure.  Those kind of changes are going to have a huge affect on the characters that are left for the last book.

Speaking of the last book, I'm so dying.  Next summer?  No title or cover to look at yet. Oh, this will be one hard wait.

If you have been reading this series, then pick up and devour this book TODAY.  If you don't know Daemon Black yet, then you need to meet the guy.  This book is hard to categorize but I'd say peeps who love romance, YA, or paranormal anything will LOVE this series.

I bought Origin way back on it's release day. It was a pre-order actually. Yet the moment it arrived in the mail I squeezed it onto the shelf in it's rightful place next to the first 3 books, untouched. And there it's sat until a few weeks ago. Waiting. Whenever I'd confess to other fans of the series that I still hadn't read this yet I'd always get a lot of shock over the fact. 'How on earth can you not read it yet? Don't you remember the end of Opal?' Yes! Don't you?! That's exactly why I felt I needed to wait. I'm a chicken. Truth be told I never even read the blurb, or the one for Opposition either. Why? I didn't even want a hint until I was ready to end the series. The ending of Opal shattered my heart into about a million pieces. I have never had a worse book hangover and I just wasn't ready to go through that kind of a situation again and have to wait and wait to finally get some closure. So I waited, surprisingly patiently, until now.

    --I was on fire again.

Being able to get lost in this series once again has been so much fun. Very bittersweet but honestly there's nothing like it. I was filled with so much apprehension before starting Origin. I started over and reread everything from the beginning and when I finished Opal once again I had a massive pit in the bottom of my stomach. I cracked this one open and got through the first sentence (above) and I almost wasn't ready to go on. I just knew my emotions were about to get a huge workout.

--"I'll burn the world down to save her."

If I were to be forced to pick a favorite out of all the Lux novels then I'd have to say that Origin would be my pick. But...not for any reason you may think of. Basically, this is the first time since the start of the series that one of the Lux novels is in dual POVs. *Dead* I have been wanting to get inside the head of that yummy alien Daemon Black ever since he opened the door in nothing but a pair of jeans and an scowl in book 1. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say haha. I swear I didn't think it was possible but I fell for this guy even more. We really get more of a sense of Daemon instead of just the second hand stuff through the eyes of Katy. His fierceness, his determination, his desperation, his loyalty. The lengths this guy will go to to protect and save the woman he loves even his family...there are just no words.

--Luc had warned me that the things here would blow my mind.

I felt like I had a pretty good handle on everything by the end of Opal and boy was I wrong. In this book we get to go deeper into Daedalus and realize there is so much more going on with them than I had even imagined. There are new characters to love and loathe and some that made brief appearances before but we get to see them a bit more in this one. At some points I feel like this book was probably harder on me to read than Opal was. There's all out chaos and surprises everywhere. It was heart wrenching and action packed. There were betrayals and tragedy. But beneath all of that there was also times of tenderness and so much happiness I thought my heart was going to burst. Origin was the perfect build up into Opposition. I just wish it didn't have to end.

    Best installment yet!

This installment is a lot darker than the others. I’m trying so hard not to give spoilers here, but I think it’ll be safe to say that Katy and Daemon got split up and neither one of them are taking that well. Daemon would burn the world for her and it shows in this novel. It’s also the first time you get to read from Daemon’s point of view in the entire series. Half of it is from Katy’s POV of course, but the other half is all Daemon. I was an emotional wreck throughout this entire novel. Ups and downs and “awww so want my own Daemon” moments had me all over the place. Once again, it was a one-sitting novel and I ate it up. It was beautiful and amazing and so angst-filled, I have no words. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would. It was that good.

Could not put the book down for one second. Amazing read. I love how Katy and Dameon will fight for each other and never give up on each other and their love no matter the hardships they face along the way. If that is not love I do not know what is.

I went into this book so nervous. Book three, Opal ended on quit

I went into this book so nervous. Book three, Opal ended on quite the little cliffhanger and it left me wondering where book four, Origin was going to take us. Thankfully my worries that Katy and Daemon would spend most of the book apart did not happen. We get to see Kitten and Daemon back to working as a team. I love it when they work together. Heck who am I kidding I just love them.

Origin was chocked full of so much emotion. I’m pretty sure I was suffering a case of the feels through my whole reading. We get happy, sad, scared, funny, suspense, and of course Daemon’s mouth. I spent most of the book reading on the edge of my seat.. um sheets.

My love for Daemon has grown with each and every book in this series and Origin was no different. I think this boy gets better every time I get to read him. I even love Katy, and you know how hard it is for me to spread the heroine love around. There were times that Katy drove me insane, after everything they’ve gone through Katy was still keeping things from Daemon! I wanted to shake her a little and tell her to just tell him. Nothing good ever comes from her keeping secrets. When will she learn this?

By the end of the book Katy does get better, she comes clean and is definitely growing in her kick ass heroine ways. Girl is learning to hold her own and you know there is nothing I love more than a kick ass heroine.

But mostly I just loved seeing Daemon and Kat together. Reading about their love for one another and having them working together as a team was just perfect. Plus as I’ve said Daemon is so sweet and jerky at the same time. I don’t know how he pulls it off, but he’s fast becoming one of my favorite heroes.

Origin obviously continues the story of the Luxen and their relationship with the U.S. government. This book had so many twist and story advancements. There were so many plot thickening things thrown in from left field. I loved every minute of it. You can see the entire story coming together as each piece was given to us.

We also get to meet some new characters and get to revisit with some old ones. I’m thinking besides Katy and Daemon, Archer is fast becoming a favorite secondary character. Between him and my ever growing love for Luc I’m not sure who comes in first place.

In my personal opinion, these books just keep getting better as the series goes on. Right now Origin is my favorite so far… even if it ends in a HUGE CLIFFHANGER. Bigger than the cliffy we had in book three. I’m so glad I already had my hands on a copy of the last book, Opposition or else I would not have been able to handle even a day of waiting. There was no way I could have waited to see how the series came to an end.

If you can’t tell I absolutely adore this series and want everyone to read it. Yes, it’s about aliens which I get might turn some people off, but I swear it’s aliens unlike anything you’ve seen before. If you’re ok with any kind of paranormal and you love a smart mouth hero you have to give the Lux series a chance.

This is definitely my second favorite book in the Lux series, with Obsidian being my first. I absolutely loved how fast paced it was and that I could honestly not guess what was going to happen next. So many bad things happen to Katy and I could definitely feel for the poor girl. The alternating points of view from Katy and Daemon were excellent and definitely something that helped this book a lot. I am so happy we finally get to know what is in that sext alien's head. The ending was absolutely ridiculous since it is such a HUGE cliffhanger and I have no idea how the last book is going to wrap everything up. I will definitely be reading the last installment the day it gets here in the mail.

    OH MY GOODNESSSSSS!!! MUST READ!!

Okay! First of all I just want to say that I am not a big fan of alien books. This probably sounds stupid but it did take a lot of me to read the Lux series. However, I HAVE NO REGRETS!! By far one of my favorite series and for all you alien haters just please give it a try like I did. For this book in particular, I have to say wow…I did not see that ending coming! Big cliffhanger, can't wait for the next book!!

    WOW!

I read all 5 books in one week and I had to work full time & have 2 kids. That is how good this series is. I first read her books under J Lynn, she is such an amazing writer. I was looking for more books not wanting any unrealistic love stories. Almost everything is about vampiers & werewolves. I like that stuff to but feel its being over done. I took a shot on the Lux novels & I am so hooked.can't wait to read the next one.

This is my favorite book in the series by far, and I love the other books. We finally get to hear from Daemon for half the book as opposed to just a scene or two in as extras in the back. It’s great to get inside his alien head and really see what makes him tick.

Two things that really work in this book are the amped up emotion and the action. All of the emotions are heightened — the fear, love, anger, hatred — and the author brings the reader into the firestorm of feelings. JLA has taken the action to nuclear levels and doesn’t let up. About the only thing that I can say that isn’t over-the-top gushing praise is that Daemon and Katy sound a little too much alike at points. They use the same expressions when they think. But it’s not enough of a negative to offset all the wonderfully positive aspects.

    Plot
The plot zips right from the first pages. This is a bit of a departure for the series. In the three previous books, things took a few chapters to really get rolling. But not this time. Daemon is hellbent on getting Katy back from the opening and anything or anyone who gets in his way risks annihilation. The story builds, adding more tension, emotion, and passion, until it peaks, but then it doesn’t stop. Book 4 leaves us hanging and waiting, less than patiently, for the fifth and final book due out in August, 2014.

    Characters
The characters are the same we’ve come to know and love in the first three books, and again, they don’t stand still. Their emotional growth is building as they are thrown from one impossible situation into the next. We get to know a handful of new characters that play well off of the others and add to the plot development.

    Bottom Line
This is the best book in the series so far. The raw emotion and the strong plot work well together to create a fun, fast-paced read that kept me turning the page.
