Overview

Watch a movie, keep fit and have fun with Debbie Harter's big, kind-hearted bear on his daily walks about town! With large type, an easy-to-remember rhyming text and bold artwork, this bright and busy picture book offers an excellent way of introducing small children to the days of the week and to the basic principles of local geography. A town map at the end of the story shows where bear has been on his strolls around the neighborhood and features clearly labeled street and place names.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sherry Philippus
Very young readers will especially enjoy this story about a big, friendly bear's daily activities in the city. Rhyming text simply describes Bear's destination on each day of the week; children will respond to the sequential presentation as well as to the vivid watercolor illustrations that fully cover each double-page spread. A map at the end of the book allows children to retrace Bear's travels. A good choice for preschool story hours.
School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-A bear walks through town and sees different things or visits different places each day of the week, from the bakery on Monday to a movie on Wednesday to the playground on Sunday. There is not much of a story, but the book is attractive, with large objects to identify, and preschoolers will enjoy pointing out different sights. The illustrations are colorful, the bears that fill the busy scenes are appealing, and there is plenty for young readers to pore over.-Christine A.
