This book is about a period of Jewish history that is unknown to many readers. It the story of heroism, sacrifice, tragedy, and desperation. It is the story of the Sephardim Jews of Spain and Portugal in the 14th and 15th centuries. The book is well written but a bit superficial for students of history. It is a good book for middle school students or someone who wants a surface understanding of this period.
If you are not familiar with this historical period this book is a good introduction. The author provides a list of reference books for those readers who wish to explore this time period in more detail.
I recommend this book for Sunday school teachers. Students would find the writing easy to understand and it would give them a good historical introduction into the Inquisition.
