Purpose: The purpose is to provide a complete atlas of otologic procedures. The objective of this updated edition is to provide the latest techniques and essential information necessary to perform state-of-the-art surgery.
Audience: The primary audience includes fellows and practitioners, whether they are specialists or practitioners, who perform any amount of otologic surgery. The book also is an excellent reference for residents in otolaryngology. The editors are world authorities and they have assembled a who's who of authors to write many of the chapters.
Features: This comprehensive book presents several chapters on many procedures to cover different management strategies and techniques, which allows for discussion of controversies and enables readers to make informed decisions about which procedure to use. The chapters are well written, the figures are excellent, and the references are complete. With access to the online version, readers also will be able to search, watch videos, consult a question and answer section, and follow links to PubMed abstracts.
Assessment: This is a must-have textbook for any otologic surgeon. It is extremely useful and easy to use. This update is necessary, covering many more topics. The online access is a novel and helpful feature.
