Overview

As reporter Millie Morris, 29, holds two cantaloupes to her chest in place of her God-given grapes, she makes eye contact with a gorgeous guy in the produce section of the local grocer. The magic dies when Millie ducks behind the kiwi to avoid contact with her ex in the vegetable section.

Things don’t improve the next day when Millie rides smack into a tree during a bike race. At least a knight in shining Armor All – a passing trucker – whisks her to the first-aid station. Life takes a positive turn when a bride places a huge cupcake order at Millie’s mom’s shop – The Secret Lives of Cupcakes – until the bride turns out to be fierce local lawyer, Laura M. Fracas, the woman who slept with Millie’s boyfriend and now wears his engagement ring.

Luckily, Millie’s buddies at the cupcake shop - and even that passing trucker - form the wrapper that holds Millie’s crumbling cupcake of a life together. Temperatures rise well above 350⁰ when Millie’s ex pesters her for advice and even confides his doubts about marriage, but the icing on the cake comes when Millie must report on a headline-grabbing case in which Laura M. Fracas is the lead defense attorney.

Wending her way through this complicated recipe called life, Millie must finally make a choice: continue in her half-baked state of existence or finally rise above it.

Editorial Reviews

"This novel had me doing that laughing-so-hard-no-sound-is-coming-out kind of laugh. I wouldn't be surprised if there were tears. I don't have a particular line or quote that I found particularly hilarious because there were so many I really enjoyed. What I liked was that Millie was incredibly clever, quick, and witty. That can be the best sort of humour and it worked for me." - Kaley Stewart at Books, Etc (BooksAndStuff-kstar.blogspot.com)

"Anne writes in a lovely way. Her writing is extremely humorous and she has created the most delightful characters, especially Millie and her friend Pauline, that you 'get' right from the start. Her style of writing is easy to read, and just generally enjoyable. Lots of laugh out loud moments from the moment you start reading along with a good storyline and the great characters. It certainly was a book I'd recommend to others." - Kim The Bookworm (KimTheBookworm.blogspot.com)

"McAneny writes a wonderfully, fast-paced story with characters that you can't help but feel connected with (love Josh!). There was no dwelling on details, and once I started this book almost could not put it down! I highly recommend this book!" - The Obscured Vixen (ObscuredVixen.wordpress.com)

"Oh my! ~~ What a fun book! And isn't that cover great? I loved this story and the characters. They were all very believable and down-to-earth. This story is very well written and held my interest until the very end. I loved how I was not sure what decision Millie was going to make. Great job on that, Ms. McAneny! I highly recommend this book - it's a great read!" - The Book Bag (susan-thebookbag.blogspot.com)
