Each daily chapter explores something Jesus showed us, including: coins, basins, bowls, bread, cups, swords and tables. In each chapter, the author shares a biblical story from Jesus' final journey to Jerusalem and explains the significance of the tangible things Jesus lifted up for his followers. Then, each chapter connects the Bible lesson with our own daily lives as well as the lives of men and women who are celebrated in our culture, including the spiritual writer Thomas Merton, the actress and singer Judy Garland, the country musician Merle Haggard and even the beloved Cat in the Hat. After 40 days of connecting scripture with modern life, readers will find themselves freshly aware of the many blessings we have received and the challenges we face in helping to heal the world around us.

Meet the Author
David Crumm is best known as a journalist for more than 30 years, specializing in reporting on the impact of faith and culture on people's daily lives. Beginning in the early 1980s, he reported across the U.S. and occasionally from other parts of the world for the Detroit Free Press and its wire services. In 2006, his weekly column on everyday spirituality won the annual Wilbur Award for "Best Column on Religion in a Major Newspaper." That was his sixth Wilbur award, among many honors over the years. In 2007, Crumm left the Free Press to found David Crumm Media LLC and ReadTheSpirit publishing. In partnership with software developer John Hile, who serves as publisher of the new venture—and in cooperation with media professionals from across the U.S.—Crumm and Hile launched the www.ReadTheSpirit.com online magazine and related publishing projects. The entire team produces media from daily articles to complete books and small-group resources exploring religion, spirituality, values and cultural competency. ReadTheSpirit’s guiding principle is: Making spiritual connections for everyday living.
