When hunky firefighter Justin Sadler's late wife, Rachel, appears to be trying to communicate from beyond the grave with refrigerator magnets in the pseudonymous Cash's (Curing the Blues with a New Pair of Shoes) wacky sixth novel, Justin asks the Domestic Equalizers, Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin, of Salt Lick, Tex., to determine whether his house is really haunted. Debbie Sue and Ed, who also own the Styling Station beauty salon, accept the challenge, while a young teacher moonlighting as a “mentalist,” Sophia Paredes, who's the granddaughter of a recently deceased El Paso psychic, also agrees to help Justin. Adding some skullduggery to the ghostly goings-on is Justin's greedy brother-in-law, who covets the mineral rights of Justin's ranch. Cash (Texas sisters Pamela Cumbie and Jeffery McClanahan) neatly mixes woo-woo weirdness and romance with the gosh-darn Texas humor fans expect from this light crime series. (June)

Meet the Author

Dixie Cash is Pam Cumbie and her sister, Jeffery McClanahan. They grew up in rural West Texas among "real life fictional characters" and 100 percent real cowboys and cowgirls. Some were relatives and some weren't. Pam has always had a zany sense of humor and Jeffery has always had a dry wit. Surrounded by country western music, when they can stop laughing long enough, they work together creating hilarity on paper. Both live in Texas—Pam in the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex and Jeffery in a small town near Fort Worth.

Love these gals! I purchased the ebook version 6/15 (release date) and couldn't put it down. Colorful characters Debbie Sue and Edwina are hilarious as always and I think each book they're in gets better and better. I won't summarize what's already featured above, but if you're looking for a fun read, Jeffery and Pam (Dixie Cash) do not disappoint.

Firefighter Justin Sadler is a bit taken aback when reformatory magnets seem to be leaving him a message from his wife, Rachel. The problem is his spouse died and apparently is communicating from the grave using magnets like she did when she lived. Suspecting a hoax though he cannot fathom who or why, he asks the Salt Lick, Texas based Domestic Equalizers duo, Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin to investigate. Debbie Sue and her spouse Ed agree to determine if the house is haunted and if so is it by their client's late wife. At the same time the granddaughter of a late El Paso psychic school teacher Sophia Paredes, who supplements her income as a mentalist; also agrees to look into the haunting. All the investigators look for a mundane solution so lean towards Rachel's brother who wants the mineral rights to the Sadler property. This is a jocular entry from Texas' zaniest crime busters, as the Domestic Equalizers and their spouses investigate the haunting. Wild and nutty, fans will appreciate the craziness that is so much over the top of even the Beyond fun to follow as once again the crew Curing the Blues with a New Pair of Shoes work the case of the apparent spirit speaking to her spouse to move on. Enjoy her books but ten dollars is too much to spend.
