Editorial Reviews

International Journal of Motorcycle Studies
As a source of information about outlaw clubs, Out in Bad Standings also provides a wealth of knowledge about the organization and its dealings and politics with the outlaw world through the eyes of a well-placed ex-member. Winterhalder does not write in the traditional manner that is associated with subjects of this importance, but if one can get through the intricate first-person accounts, Out in Bad Standings is a good primary source. The book will contribute to our knowledge of the Bandidos and help fill in gaps in our knowledge of outlaw culture in general.
Northwest Cycle News

to read this and believe all of it is up to you, i agree with the other reviewer, if you lived it and its meant to be private its not a thing to be published. I recomend you read it and then youll realize why. enjoy.

Anyone who knows a bandido would know first of all that it is a sacred brotherhood that is not discussed outside of their world!! so with saying that, this book is based on someone who told their belief while he was angry and upset due to being kicked out of the club. So anyone who reads this, please understand you should not believe everything you hear or read.

Although written in a chronicle or documentary style, this was, for me, an interesting read. I met the author at a recent book signing in Orlando, where he told me that he did everything he could to get help from the mainstream literary world, but finally gave up, writing and publishing this book all by himself. Apparently it was the only way he could tell his story, and I applaud him for the effort, even if it does lack the 'professional editing' another reviewer at this website recommended. If you want to know what the motorcycle gang world is like through the eyes of one who has lived it, I highly recommend this book. The book is crammed full of amazing information about the biker lifestyle.

This is a perfect example of why you need a PROFESSIONAL EDITOR to review your work. This book is very good in that the author attempts to be honest about events and holds nothing back. The only problem is the stories drag on and eventually become so boring it is a real chore to read. The Bandido's story could be very good but this attempt missed the mark due to poor editing and amature writing.

This has got to be the best biker gang book I have ever read, and I am quite sure that I have read them all. For once, this book does not focus on the crimes that members of the club committed, although it does include the 2005 federal indictment of the Bandidos international leader, George Wegers, which I found fascinating. Instead the author explains how most of the members are just legal, hard working guys that sometimes like to have a little too much fun. As a serious sociology student, I found this book to be one of the most accurate books ever written about the subject of motorcycle gangs, and highly recommend it to anyone interested in getting a rare look into the life of a high ranking motorcycle gang member.

Out in Bad Standing is a tough book to finish. It lacks credibility because the book discusses the author's friends, parties, and rides. No mention of crime or motorcylce gang strategy is discussed. After reading many other omg books, it appears to this reader that the author is trying to get his status changed to 'Out in Good Standing' or to make money because he is out of the bandidos outlaw motorcylce gang (omg). Not a bad strategy for the author, but creates a book that is not accurate. In this book, law enforcement officials are stupid and bandido gang members do not break the law... If that is what you want to read about, I suggest you buy the book. If not, there are many other good omg books on the market!

A fascinating insiders account of the inner workings & brotherhood of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club. Not very often you get to read stories about the biker gangs straight from the source. Very few books out there like it. With the national interest in the biker culture (thanks to OCC & Jesse James) it's an entertaining read. The ending leaves you hanging as it lays the ground work for present day with the Bandido's National President and other Bandido members currently on trial for racketeering & conspiracy to commit murder charges.
