Overview

Strike One

Xavier is a jerk with a capital A.S.S. and he offers no apologies. If a woman is willing to give, he’ll gladly take, walking away without a backward glance. He’s not looking for commitment and the only diamond he’s interested in has three bases and a home plate.

Strike Two

Dr. Frances Holden knows all about fixing broken bones and taming arrogant athletes. As the Team Doctor for the Las Vegas Rockets she deals with stubborn ballplayers every day. But nobody is more stubborn than Left Fielder Matthias Xavier III.

Strike Three

When a shoulder injury takes Xavier out of the game, it’s Frankie’s job to get him back on the diamond. His rehab turns out to be more than either of them bargained for, and when she promises to help him face his scarred past, neither of them are prepared for the fireworks that come Out of Left Field and threaten to scorch them both.

Ok, first let me say that I never thought I could admire Matthias Xavier more than I did in Lucky 13, but I was wrong! This novel was even sweeter, steamier, sexier, and more romantic than Lucky 13 was. Sorry Ricky, but Xavier captured my heart this time. I still love you and wish you were keeping my bed warm ;-) but I think I melted into a puddle more than once while meeting X.

As for the actual writing, once again she hit it out of the ball park… Or into the ball park I guess lol

I love this inside look into the behind the scenes of baseball. This series is flat out romance. Every girl’s (and some guy’s- right C?) dream comes true in this novel. I love how the author keeps nothing to herself… “It took another ten minutes for the geniuses to figure out the baby wasn’t a terror risk and for Xavier to get the all-clear. He slid his feet into his shoes and, holding the handle of his bag, took off on a run.” Great

This book affected me on a level so deep that it touched my heart and
buried itself in my soul. Morgan Kearns characters are so well written
that I felt their pain and passion. I never thought I could love a
complete jerk but Morgan proved me wrong, Xavier will always hold a
special place in my heart. Well done Miss Kearns, I can't wait to read
    your next book.

Out of Left Field is five star fabulous!

To be honest, the cover of this book was my introduction to Morgan Kearns and the minute I saw it I knew I was going to buy this book no matter what the content. As I waited for Out of Left Field to be released I decided to check out the first 2 books of the Deadlines and Diamonds series and I fell hard!

This 3rd book in the series introduces us to the unbearably egotistical Mathias Xaiver III, left fielder for the Las Vegas Rockets and heart breaker extrordinaire. He's a one night stand man and has no problems finding females willing to participate in his lifestyle. When a serious injury sidelines X he must take a hard look at his past and present in order to come to terms with his future.

Frankie Holden, the teams physician, is tasked with helping X through his surgery and recovery.
She is a no nonsense gal dedicated to her career and has no plans for romance in her near future. Accustomed to dealing with overbearing, smug athletes, she dives into helping X with both feet. What she discovers is a tortured soul who needs to face his past in order to move on to his future. X challenges Frankie on every level but she is relentless in her efforts to help him. Together they confront his past and move forward into a future neither of them were expecting.

Once again we see characters from the first 2 books popping in and taking part in X's story, although this book deals more with the Rockets baseball team and less with KHB. I love that about this series, characters are not put away and forgotten. The plot line and characters in this book are extremely strong with the right mix of romance and intrigue.

Now I am in love with Mathias Xavier III as well as Rich Spencer, and Grayson Pierce. I cannot wait to learn about Ricky Santiago in the next book!

Out of Left Field by Morgan Kearns
Mathias Xavier is a professional baseball player.
Frankie Holden is the teams physical therapist doctor.
Because he's injured his shoulder, they make a deal he'll get it checked out once the opening day game is over with.
He's now had surgery and she's the only one available to take care of him so she moves into his house for possibly 3 weeks time.
They are getting on each other nerves as time goes by and he realizes in order to do some things she must help him and he hates that, and cries. He hates to cry in front of her.
Her boyfriend, Christian is staying with her sickly mother whiile she's at Xavier's helping him recuperate. It's a long process and she finds herself worrying about his progress.
He is having dreams of her, touching her, feeling her hair, etc
She's agreed to travel to Boston for his 20th high school class reunion. He's made all the reservations. Every touch of her hands on his body causes him to react and he has no control over those parts of his body.
She was going to play the part of his lover for the class reunion. Would it bite them in the end?? Love not only the things she does for him but the way he takes care of her when things go wrong.
Love how the different meanings of the title come into play...
Lot of sensual romance and sex mixed in with rehab, new places of travel and baseball. Great combination as all of Morgan's books are a treat. This one can be a stand alone book and can be read as the series continues.

    Another Winner by Ms Kearns

An excellent book about Doctor Frankie and an injured (more ways than one) ball player... Touching... A real emotional encounter of two people who really belong together but have a multitude of past and problems to overcome... I loved the book and all of the other books in this series... Great character development and a story line that is pretty different... Read and enjoy...
