About the Author

Carmi Cosmos has told lies and wind-bagged stories her entire life. Her childhood experiences growing up on a Caribbean island and spending summers on her grandparent's farm in Kansas fuel her imagination. Carmi's short stories have earned her awards in the 2005 Alchemist Review Short Fiction Contest and the 2003 Erle Stanley Gardner Mystery Writing Contest. She is the past editor of the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce newsletter, Village Voice and a contributing writer to the Fallbrook Village News annual publication, The Sourcebook. Carmi lives in Fallbrook, California and is presently working on a novel exploring the turbulent relationships of a woman raising her sister's abandoned son.

Sarah Bates lives in Fallbrook, California. Her short stories have appeared in the San Diego North County Times and in Bravura, the literary magazine of Palomar College. She is currently writing a novel set in California's San Joaquin Valley. When her imagination soars, her fiction takes flight, but she also toils at fact. She is a freelance feature writer for the Fallbrook Village News and a member of the Society of Professional Journalists. Sarah also writes advertising and public relations copy, and as a contract writer, wrote the text for 17 non-fiction books.

Sarah and Carmi met in a novel writing class. Two years ago they co-founded the Fallbrook Professional Writers, a critique group of six who meet monthly.
