I bought this book as source material for a paper in mmy American Studies class because I wanted to approach the assignment in a different way than most other students might. This book, written by the animator's son, is a tribute to a family man and innovator who dared to be one of tje earliest challengers to Walt Disney.
Fleischer created not only Betty Boop but Ko-Ko the clown, the Popeye shorts and the classic Superman toons from the 1940s. He was also the mind behind early sing-along and humorous travelogue cartoons.
This is a great source and a wonderful book about a great but (lately) underappreciated man. Read this if you want an unDisneyfied view of early 20th century classic art.
