    best of the bunch

My family and I just took our first trip to RMNP and this book was so helpful, I made it a point to return to bn.com and write this review. Prior to the trip, I bought a handful of titles and this was the best of the bunch for its purpose: acclimating a newcomer to the park. It is well organized, easy to use, and compact. This is the book that was tucked into my backpack on the trails. I can't recommend this book without also recommending Kent and Donna Dannen's guide to the park. Although it's not as newbie-friendly, it is WONDERFUL reading--artful prose, really. I used The Evans book on the trails and then spent the plane ride home wistfully reading the Dannens' book, wistfully re-living the whole RMNP experience. If you're going, I'd buy them both.
