Durie, host of Australian TV's Backyard Blues, expands upon the landscape design ideas that he first discussed in his previous book, Patio, whose title was taken from his award-winning design firm. He focuses on the hardscape of landscape design, with sections devoted to walls, floors, furnishings, cooking, dining and bathing areas, water features, and lighting. These features are illustrated with numerous color photographs of landscapes he has designed as well as suggestions for various plants to provide screening, shade, and color. Although Durie discusses various options for walls, lighting, and the like, this book has too few details on how to complete projects for the amateur and will be more useful as an inspiration for experienced gardeners. Recommended for large interior design, landscape, and gardening collections. Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
