Overview

In Outsmarting Mother Nature: A Woman's Complete Guide to Plastic Surgery in the 21st Century, a female plastic surgeon explains all the major procedures in cosmetic surgery, offering frank insights into both physical and psychological issues and expectations. Dr. Iliana Sweis, who not only performs but has undergone cosmetic procedures, details the stages most women will go through from the time they begin to contemplate plastic surgery. The book explains how one can best prepare for a procedure, what to expect during the actual surgery, and how to handle the healing phase.

The first several chapters discuss the emotional aspects underlying the desire to undergo plastic surgery, including its social and professional impacts. Each of the subsequent chapters is devoted to individual plastic surgery procedures in significant detail, using a question-and-answer format. Case studies illustrate what cosmetic procedures can, and cannot, accomplish—and the reality checks that need to be in place as part of the decision to proceed.

    This book delivers!

My girlfriends and I are always talking about wanting some sort of plastic surgery to help with our middle aged, post baby bodies. What would a tummy tuck be like? Will there be scars? What's the down time? Will the results be what we expect? Should we try botox? Are we being too vain to consider elective surgery when we should be saving for college? This book has all the answers and then some. Its like having a girlfriend who is a plastic surgeon explain everything we need to know about the before, during and after surgery in a way that is very easy to understand. Dr. Sweis even touched on the emotional aspects that we struggle with when considering elective surgery. I highly recommend this book to every woman who has ever considered improving their body/face through surgery or injectables. Read on...you're worth it!

Where has this book been hiding?

What a wonderful, informative and easy to read book. Anyone, who is considering any form of plastic surgery or non surgical rejuvenation treatments would benefit greatly from reading it. It covers not only the physical but emotional aspects of thinking about, making the decision to have and having the procedures. Any questions you may have before and after surgery and treatments will be answered in this one book. I will be recommending it to my friends as I will not be passing my copy along. You must have a copy of your own to reference often. Thank you Dr. Sweis!
