The groove on "Nyack" is something else -- so good that a bonus live version closes out the disc, giving the listener a good sense of what the band does on stage hint: it cooks. Keep the disc playing and you'll hear a 45-second snippet of horns and drums getting down as well.

Best Jazz/Funk Album of the Year!

Here's a recipe for success: Take two Soulive band members, One Squad and one Kudu. Add John Scofield & one member of his band. Add Fred Wesley's trombone Lock them in a studio until they're really ripe. Result - ''Outta Here'' - the best no-nonsense Jazz/Funk/Fusion in a long time.
