Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Jenna Bloom, a notorious practical joker, enjoys another wonderful summer at camp until the snobby Blake Wetherly shows up. Her camp experience worsens when she fractures her leg and later gets blamed for pranks she did not pull. Feeling that life is not fair, Jenna begins to indulge in self-pity, jealousy and anger. As a result, she isolates herself from her friends. Determined to prove her innocence, Jenna discovers the identity of the camp prankster. At the same time, she learns the real meaning of friendship. Ultimately, she leaves camp with her friendships repaired and her name cleared. Unfortunately, Morgan’s novel falls short in its storytelling. Even though it is a part of a series, there is not enough character development to draw in readers. The entire story is focused on static characters and ends unrealistically. The plot and situations are superficial, petty and completely predictable. Though the author attempts to emphasize the importance of friendship, the message gets lost in an ending that seems rushed and underdeveloped. Morgan underestimates the intelligence of her target audience and leaves readers feeling indifferent to the fate of the characters. Reviewer: Alexia Murdock

Meet the Author

Melissa J. Morgan started going to sleep away camp when she was eight years old and didn't stop until her first job after grad school refused her request for eight weeks of summer vacation. She's since quit that job to become a full-time author. The only reason she didn't go back to camp is that her husband refused to join her. Melissa lives in New York with him and Bugle, their Chocolate Lab.

Jenna Bloom has enough problems- loosing the guy she liked, resisting her urge to prank, handling a new brat at camp- she doesn't need another problem when OUCH! Jenna breaks her leg while playing sports, right before Color War! Jenna waits all year for Color War, but not she can't compete in sports! Poor Jenna! FYI, this is the conclusion to the 2nd Summer. However, this isn't the last Summer!

I loved this book! It's when Color War starts and Jenna is excited! Then during a soccer practice Jenna trips and hurts her foot. Jenna is not allowed to participate in color war. She sees a new boy who turns out to be Dr. Steve's nephew! Jenna's team is playing poorly she decides to have fun with pranking. Then her team asked Dr. Steve if they could have a pie eating contest! Jenna wins! Jenna worked so hard working on the Social that it is almost imposible for anyone to make her play the prank she planed HERE-NOW! Then new boy finds her plans for the prank and decides to do it! Jenna is furios! In loved this book! It was the best ever! If i could do a qadrillionth star I would!

I'm going into the seventh grade just like the girls in 4C and 4A, so I can relate to these books. I can't wait for this one! I read the preview in Best (Boy) Friend Forever and it sounds like Jenna is going to hate that spoiled rich kid Blake, but then like him. I'm totally excited!

I am a Camp Confidential lover. I was hooked ever since I read Natalie's Secret! My favorite so far is Best (Boy)Friend Forever. Though I kind of wish that Brynn and Jordan didnt end up together because I'm scared that he's going to ignore Priya again. Oh well. I can't WAIT to see what the next book is about!!! I wonder when the one after that will come out??? I hope really really soon!!!
