I am now 9 months into the rehabilitation process after a TBI. I am 31 and was a teacher for students with visual impairements. Before this book was recommended to me, by my Speech Therapist, I was afraid that...'this is as good as it gets'. Yes, there may be a chance that I won't teach again...but I once again feel I will educate people in one accpect or another! I now have hope, new strategies to better get through the day and the relief of knowing that I am not the only one who sometimes puts their shoes on before their pants! I laughed, I cried and shared so many passages with friends and family. I believed it opened both my eyes and those of my loved ones. Thank you Claudia for sharing your roller coaster ride!

I am a TBI survior and found this book very helpful. Dr. Osborn gives us the full view of what it is like to life with a TBI everyday and how we have to learn to overcome the many daily activites of our life. This book is a must for anyone with TBI and their family members and friends.

A wonderful read for anyone remotely interested in the subject of TBI. The author is brilliantly insightful about her condition and the struggle of recovering from a TBI. As a member of the medical profession, I found this book informative, interesting, and touching.

Dr. Osborn tells a remarkable story of her life post-TBI. This is highly recommended for head injury survivors and those who love them and want to understand how their injury has changed them. Her account of navigating typical early-morning routines and then the streets of Manhattan is eye-opening and inspiring.

Dr. Osborn's account of post-brain injury rehab from the patient's point of view, combined with some of the perspectives of her family and friends is an invaluable resource for anyone who has experienced traumatic brain injury or acquired brain injury (stroke, etc.), and for people who live with a survivor. Osborn managed to record what so many survivors and their caregivers can't find the words to express.
