A variation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. This novel isn't a simple retelling. The tale has been modernized to the current time period and takes place in New York City. Elizabeth Bennett's struggles have been updated to current problems and expectations placed on women in today's world. Mr. Darcy's personality is intact making him the modern brooding hot guy.

Overview

A variation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. This novel isn't a simple retelling. The tale has been modernized to the current time period and takes place in New York City. Elizabeth Bennett's struggles have been updated to current problems and expectations placed on women in today's world. Mr. Darcy's personality is intact making him the modern brooding hot guy. This is a contemporary spin on the classic book.

Charming. Sexy. Rich. William Darcy is the triple threat that should make any woman twerk on sight. He's everything a girl could want--a beautiful billionaire with sad eyes and a crooked smile so yummy you can't help but try to lick it. Well, unless that woman is Beth Bennet. Her panties don't drop for anyone unless there's love, so a guy like Darcy doesn't stand a chance.

Being shoved up the New York City socialite ladder chafes, so Beth attends college as far away as possible. Texas provides the distance she needs, but when her father gets sick she finds herself right back where she started--stuck together with a bronzed god who hates her.

The prideful will fall to ruin.

Their prejudice will be their undoing.

And William Darcy will be the first to fall, Beth is certain of that.

If I had a chance to go back, I probably wouldn't have bought this book. The story felt rushed, the characters underdeveloped and just overall not a great read. I've read many novels that are a play on Pride and Prejudice, but this one failed to live up to the story and expectations.

LOVED IT.... It's the modern day Pride and Prejudice with a few great sensual moments. Great read.... Just how far can you go to protect your gay friend? Marry him!!!!! Yep Elizabeth is completely loyal and is willing to give up everything, even her chance at her fairytale just to protect her friend and his family.

Gossip Girls meets the Real House Wives all Molded into Jane Austen's Story! Full Review is available at http://bookplusheart.weebly.com/contemporary-na/over-you-a-mr-darcy-valentines-romance-by-hm-ward-lg-castillo BUT with that said and ranted about I must say this P&P retellings has moved to one of my top 10 favorites. First of all I loved how Elizabeth (a.k.a. Beth) is her classic prejudice self. She has it out for Darcy from moment she runs into him. I loved that we don’t have all 5 sisters, we only have Jane, Beth and Mary. Wickham and Bingley are still in it, but instead of Carolina we have just Anne Degatto. H.M Ward and L.G Castillo took out some of the extra characters and kept the prevalent ones that allowed the story to keep its authenticity. My only complaint with this book was IT WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH! I am so sad when it ended. I wanted more. So I am pleading with H.M Ward to write another one! I would have been happy with an Epilogue. Maybe you can write one similar to Emma or Sense and Sensibility. I would game to read that. Anyone else behind me on this request to Ward and Castillo? So to all my Austen lover’s and P&P Fans this is for you!

Book exchanged for an honest review~ Elizabeth "Beth" Bennet is working towards her graduate degree in Texas far from her mother's meddling ways. A frantic phone from her sister Jane sends Beth rushing home to New York to be by her father's side. Beth offers to remain in New York to be close to her family only to have played right into her mother's hands. Beth doesn't like William Darcy yet can't deny that she wants his kisses and touch. William Darcy tries to keep everyone at arms length but that doesn't seem to be working for him with Beth Bennet. Colin Frey needs a bride and nominates his best friend Beth even though he's clearly gay. Beth reluctantly agrees to Colin's plan even though it's making her completely miserable. Beth's parents are hiding something from their daughters Beth does some snooping to figure out what it is. Will Beth go through with the wedding to Colin? What are The Bennet's hiding? Will Darcy admit his feelings for Beth? Your answers await you in Over You. This is my first experience with H. M. Ward's writing style in collaboration with L. G. Castillo. The concept for the book is the modern day retelling of Pride and Prejudice. I've got to admit that is clearly and wholly accurate description of this book from the story to the characters. I'll be honest I enjoyed this version over the classic mainly because it isn't in Old English which sometimes frustrates me to no end. I'll definitely consider reading more from both of these author's in the future.

Amazing story I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for my honest review. First of all I love how H.M and L.G. put their words together to write one fantastic book, I had a hard time putting it down. Beth came home because her father was in the hospital, she wasn't expecting to fall in love. When her best friend needed her, she was ready to give up what she wanted. We had a couple of friendly faces in this book as well. I think we all want a happily ever after but not everyone gets one. I have read almost everything H.M. has written and they have all been wonderful. If you love a good romance then you should definitely buy this when it comes out. Once I started reading it, I had to force myself to put it down.

Oh My Flipping Lord!!!!! Oh and a BIG hello and how DO you do to Mr. Darcy. H.M. Ward has done it yet again, I was glued to my tablet screen all day getting my fill on brooding filthy stinken rich hottness, but this story is alot more then a huge hunk of yumminess. This story is about family friendship, love, loyalty, and trust. Beth Bennet is all but more than happy to throw her own happiness away to protect the ones she loves, but at what cost? What will the result be from the ultimate sacarfice? Will anyone get their HEA or will everyone be stuck playing the golden son and the dutiful daughter? Well I'd tell you everything but that would ruin the book and defeat the purpose of me telling youto go get it and read it yourself. Happy reading *~~Gabby's Honest Book Reviews~~*

Elizabeth Bennet’s biggest flaw, and I would not call it a flaw at all, is that she is super loyal to those that she loves, almost to a fault. She will do anything she can to help those she loves, from pushing her father to fight for his company to helping her best friend even if it means sacrificing her own dreams. But, she is no pushover! She is strong and knows what she wants in life. It is her strength coming through that is allowing her to make the sacrifices she does. William Darcy! On the surface he is standoffish and a bit rude. His cold controlling nature is what has made him successful in business. But there is another layer to this handsome brooding man. He, too, is fiercely loyal to his family and has used his power and wealth to help others, even if most people don’t see that side of him. When William finally declares his feelings for Beth, she has made a decision that will not allow them to be together. Will she choose keep her promise to her best friend over her growing feelings for William? Having never read Pride and Prejudice (I know, for shame) I did not have any preconceived notions about this story going in, other than hearing how much other book friends loved it. I truly loved this story. I found not only the main characters amazing, but the supporting ones as well. There were twists in the story that I didn’t see coming, and an HEA that I didn’t think was ever going to happen! HM Ward and LG Castillo’s co-writing is seamless; never would you guess that 2 different authors wrote this story together. This was a definite page turner that will top my favorites for 2016. Over You is a perfect 5-star story to read on Valentine’s Day!

A full-length standalone novel, Over You, has it all. Family is the one institution that can bring out the momma bear in people. Beth's unconditional love for her family shines throughout this book. Her devotion to her closest friend emphasizes the caring person she is. But what will she do when William Darcy starts making advances on her? Can Darcy's pride and preconceived notions of the Bennet family destroy Beth's family? Will her world implode when she learns the truth about her family? Can Beth and her sisters stand strong when life altering news is shared? A love story filled with comedy, hope and strength, Over You had me at page one. H.M. Ward & L.G. Castillo wrote together seamlessly. A few familiar names were given honorable mention and the descriptive writing had me closing my eyes and picturing the scenes unfold. An absolutely fantastic read!

I am embarrassed to say that I have not read the original Pride and Prejudice, but if it is even half as good as this book I know it is fantastic. HM Ward and LG Castillo did a wonderful job together! This book brought to light how important it is to be true to yourself. There's truly selfless giving and unconditional friendship in this story. There are also preconceive notion's, serotypes and judgments that prove to be detrimental to all involved. Which just may get in the way of finding happiness. This love story was hard fought. What I loved is all the character development. It wasn't just about the two main characters, Beth and Darcy, it was about the dynamics of everyone together friends and family. This was a five-star read for me. I highly recommend this book.
