Overview

Rian, accompanied by his wolf-friend Saz, is on a mission. To fulfill their task, the two of them must infiltrate the most magical, the most dangerous, the most fearful fort in existence, home of the maddest and baddest magician around.

Will an invisibility spell be sufficient to protect them from sentient statues, giant bees and the aforementioned wizard? Probably not. But hey, it's all in a day's work, right? Death before dishonor! Though dishonor is looking pretty darned attractive right about now.

A short work of fantasy from our Orbits line.

Meet the Author

K.G. McAbee writes science fiction, pulp, mystery, horror, gothic, steampunk, and fantasy. Her works have won various awards, including a Dream Realm Award for Best YA Fantasy. Three of her shorts have recently been accepted by the glorious Untreed Reads: BLZ, horror; Overdue, light fantasy; and Keep Your Friends Close, dark fantasy.

With Cynthia Witherspoon—they write as Cynthia Gael—K.G. is co-author of The Balefire Chronicles series: Balefire and Moonstone and Balefire and Lodestone. They're currently working on a series of steampunk novels set in the same Balefire ‘verse; book one, Brass and Bone, is complete.

K.G. lives in upstate South Carolina in a log cabin built in 1816, along with a gorgeous husband, two spoiled black Labs, and hundreds of books. She is extremely partial to scifi, horror and historical movies, comic books and conventions where she can dress up as her steampunk persona, Lady Abigail Moran.
