From The CriticsReviewer: Sally Ling, M.D.;FACP(University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine)
Description: This is a very informative pocket reference book for the general practitioner. The previous edition was published in 2002.
Purpose: This reference is intended to be a portable, readily accessible source of information on any topic that is likely encountered by a GP in the UK. To this end the authors appear to have met their goal.
Audience: Any GP, medical student, or physician in training in the UK should find this book very helpful.
Features: Topics are succinctly and clearly covered. Generally the discussion of one topic takes less than two pages. The authors have incorporated many of the suggestions from users of the first edition. Where applicable, evidence-based information is included. There are new sections on complementary medicine, care of the elderly, and chronic disease management.
Assessment: This is a very nice and handy reference book for the GP for day to day practice. For more complex situations, it serves as a good starting point.
