Overview

From the coming of the Roman legions to the present day, the Oxford Illustrated History of Britain tells the complete and enthralling story of Britain and her people over two thousand years, beautifully supplemented by over 200 superb black and white illustrations and 24 pages of vivid color plates. Since publication of the hardback in 1984, the book has sold almost half a million copies in its illustrated editions, as well as a further 170,000 in un-illustrated editions, making this impressive work one of the most widely read references on Britain's tumultuous history.
