    A great aid in learning

Learning Russian is very challenging. I tend to learn better with visual aids. I needed this dictionary to help with vocabulary. It took me a while to get use to the layout. I find a lot of words lacking or missing. Overall it was a big help. My only complaint.... the print is too small. Not all dictionaries need to be pocket size, but if this size, bigger print and more pages will be helpful.

    Not for Beginners

Overall, useful dictionary for intermediate to advanced students of the Russian language. There are just a couple of flaws though that would definately make this a difficult resource to use for English speakers though: 1) There isn't any pronunciation guide for the Cyrillic alphabet, so you will have to learn the alphabet via some other resource. 2) All the Russian text is only written using the Cyrillic alphabet and lacks any roman transliteration (not written with roman characters to pronounce it more easily, like Romanji is to Japanese).

I would recommend you have some sort of previous knowledge of the Russian language before using this dictionary and that this book be used to supplement your studies of Russian alongside a grammar book, phrasebook, or if you can, a textbook.
