The greatest body of evidence exists for atherosclerosis and, accordingly, this is the most extensive sect ion. However, we have taken great care to try and provide the reader w ith objective evidence for the role of oxidative stress in other disea ses such as diabetes, hypertension, and vascular remodeling. In each i nstance, the book is designed to provide a solid overview of the basic science data required to evaluate the role of oxidative stress. Anima l data is then presented and finally, where applicable, the role of ox idative stress in human disease is discussed with the appropriate refe rence to epidemiologic data. The book is designed to appeal to both sc ientists and clinicians with an interest in vascular disease and its u nderlying pathophysiology.
