Pacific Dream is all these things. It's the best book I've read this year and I'll never forget it. John writes with a candor that's shockingly fresh and real. His prose is clear as the water in one of the rushing streams he fords. It's as if I walked the trail with him, and I loved every stepĀ - and this, coming from a non-hiker, is high praise."

    Savae and gang

K girls go to page three last result here and pick your brute. If you want. Shattered you know Dragon is yours.))) Savage stalked in angry. She had found a wolf who had trespassed and bthe wolf had run instead of fought. She looked to Selene. "Find Styx. He is a wolf. In the fourth result. You better bring him to me." ((Styx is for yiu Selene made him for yiur character.)) She then turned and lay down on top of the falln tree....Dragon looked at Shattered and sighed. He shook his head and walked towards Galazy. She seemed the nicest. Hhe herd a snarl and turned to find Ash. Savage older brother. Snarling a him. Okay. He got the message. Her lifted his lip but bthe brute held more higher position. Oh well. He want and said hi to akire istead. "Hello." He felt more comfortable talking to her because he did not think he would ruin her.....Dream lay down next to Broken but quickly got up whe Galaxy eyed the brte. She whimpered and moved away into the shadows. She was the lowest wolf. And by far the ugliest. Her coat was disgusting and her scars everywhere. She hid her face under her paws and laid down....Ash wished he could see. The her could see the fae with the beautiful voice. Galaxy. What a beautiful name. Her voice was so melodous out of all of these faes. He cautiously made his way over. His large body was held as tight as he could so he did not tower over the wolf. In his gruff voice he greeted her. "Hello."

Honest portrayal of the authors PCT thru hike... and his marriage

I enjoyed the book a lot. I enjoyed it for the story of the thru hike AND Illig's honest story of his marriage. I appreciate that he stayed friends with his ex-wife and his honesty in describing himself as not-too-easy to live with. I appreciate the turmoil and dilemma of "staying on the trail" vs "go home and be there for his wife" and what is one to do? I also REALLY, REALLY appreciate how Illig has priced his books and offers them at a really affordable price! I wish you the best and hope that you is able to finance many more hikes with a large volume of sales. I can't decide if I should change my review from 4 stars up to 5... because for less than $3... it is a five star book. But I think I'll keep it at 4 stars.

    Good read; a memoir-style travelogue

I liked this book enough to give another of his books a try. This is the second book he wrote - the first about hiking the AT, and the last about hiking the CDT. I would have liked it if Illig had spent more time describing the places he hiked through, but his memoir-style of writing kept me interested enough.
