If you plan to paddle in either park, this is the place to start. Trip descriptions are excellent, emphasizing scenery, route, and possible conditions. The author especially emphasizes the dangers involved in each location . . . notably wind, waves, and water temperature. The maps are adequate for initial planning, but you'll want larger scale topos for an actual trip. Some information needs updating: the Cattleman's Bridge on the Snake River was removed in 2001 and Phelps Lake is now accessible on the old J Y Ranch property . . . a description of a paddle on that lake would be nice. And local sources of boat rentals and shuttles would be very helpful. You can probably gather the same information from other places, but this is the only "one stop" source I could find. I highly recommend it!
