About the Author

Meet the author
M J Porter is an author of historical fiction novels set in later Anglo-Saxon England. Brunanburh was a flight of fancy that arose from an innocent question by an author friend who wanted to know what happened after the death of King Alfred and before the reign of King Aethelred II in the later years of the tenth century (the setting for the Earls of Mercia series). Since then it's all spiraled wildly out of control and the Chronicles of the English has arisen and now the Gods and Kings series is nipping at its heels.
A keen history student, M J Porter has just completed an MA in Arthurian Studies with an emphasis on primary source material and the way information is transmitted through time.
M J Porter also writes fantasy based on Viking Age Iceland. It's quite different to the Earls of Mercia Series, and the Chronicles of the English, but has many common features.
