Overview

Brittany Wallace had lived a life of ease and luxury, completely shielded from the repercussions of her actions by her wealthy father’s influence and connections… until the day she made one poor choice too many and found herself thrown out of the family home.

At twenty-six years old, having never done a hard day’s work in her life, she finds herself begging her twin brother for a place to stay. He reluctantly agrees, but promises that things will be different—from now on bratty behavior will have consequences.

When a fellow police officer from her brother’s unit by the name of Reed Simms takes an interest in her, she does her best to give him the cold shoulder, but she quickly finds that he is a hard man to drive away. What’s worse is that she isn’t even sure she wants to drive away this handsome, dominant man who is not afraid to tell her what she needs to hear, whether or not she wants to hear it. Worst of all, she soon learns that if words alone don’t get the job done, Reed is more than willing to bare her bottom for a long, hard spanking, and if that still doesn’t make her behave, then he has other, even more embarrassing ways of keeping a naughty girl in line.

Publisher’s Note: Painful Consequences is an erotic novel that includes both consensual and non-consensual spankings, anal play, graphic sexual scenes, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

This was an okay book.  Mostly well-written, though the dialogue

This was an okay book.  Mostly well-written, though the dialogue was sometimes stilted.  I had high hopes from the description, but it ended up a bit of an odd story.  Our heroine is a poor little rich girl who needs to learn to value herself enough not to think her only destiny is to be a trophy wife.  I enjoyed some parts of this, and the characters were mostly likable, especially the parrot.  The sexual scenes were hot (if too few and far between).  It could have been good, but there were things that bothered me too much for me to really get into it.  I’m not entirely sure what to think about the heroine.  She started out in the beginning as such a self-centered mean-girl that it wasn’t quite believable to me that she would change so quickly (not that I wanted her to stay a brat, mind you - that would have been worse...).  Also, a big part of this story is dealing with her ‘addiction’ to marijuana, but it’s honestly never made clear how big of a problem she’s got.  She’s been arrested three times, once for shoplifting in addition to being high.  Clearly, she’s got issues, but given the rest of the story, and her history and characterization, it seemed to me to be more a cry for attention and limits than an addiction.  Having Reed and Brett take an active interest in her and not put up with  her bad behavior probably helped her ‘drug problem’ more than going to AA meetings.  All’s well that ends well, I guess - the emphasis just threw me a bit.

Breanna Hayse is such an accomplished author, I read everything

Breanna Hayse is such an accomplished author, I read everything she writes, and her books just keep getting better! A lot went into writing this story, it is extremely obvious by the feelings you get when you read it. I became connected to the characters, very easily done, and read it in one sitting. I adored Brittany's character because of her strength to admit to her weaknesses, Brett was a caring compassionate brother and Reed, well he just rounded out Brittany's life perfectly. Loved the plot idea and the depth of it. I sincerely hope there will be a follow up with Brett and Mo. Great read!! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

Brett and Brittney and Reed - Britt is down on last chance and even her brother isn't sure if he wants to help her. But he does decide to help and Reed seems more than willing to help out as well. Great story.
