    Clarity in instructions builds confidence

    I looked at MANY basic books on acrylic painting before deciding to buy this ONE. Too many of the books I rejected were more of a gallery of the authors' work, and were light on meaningful teaching.

    Annette Dozier does a very good, comprehensive job of explaining and detailing the tools and supplies. Her images are soft in texture and blending, and they employ pleasing palettes of colors. Her step by step approach of explaining how a picture's depth is accomplished by values of colors is very revealing and helpful. After a lifetime of observing scenery, our eyes know when something doesn't look right in a painting. All of Annette Dozier's projects in this book seemed to offer what the eye wanted.

    Painting and drawing, like any craft or talent, takes practice, success and failure. We can't use a book like this to produce a masterpiece on the first attempt, but her guided instructions helped me become comfortable and confident with the techniques needed to paint. I only wish she would produce an entire series of books beyond what she's done. I'd buy them all.
