"You're the Best Thing," with its cheerful saxophone, and the title track's sweet simplicity allow Page's crisp, tender voice to gleam. Whether crooning about the picture on the wall of the girlfriend he's in danger of losing, calling the radio station for a dedication, or walking dreamily on a white sand beach, he reminds us of how vulnerable and pure the young heart can be. Often old-fashioned without sounding worn out, Paintings in My Mind is top fare for the teen pop crowd.
