"The work contains a harmony found only in the highest types of poetry; it is actually poetry set in prose, and boasts the best traits of each." Isaac Bashevis Singer

Probably Hamsun's finest work. Besides being a captivating story of lonelyness and unrequited love, Pan is also the closest you can get to the northen norwegian wilderness without actually going there yourself. The epilogue is a stroke of genious!
