Patriota sincero y compañero leal: esos son los únicos títulos que sí reclamo, porque me pertenecen, porque he sabido conquistarlos al precio de mi sangre."
El general Francisco Villa dictó al coronel Manuel Bauche Alcalde, su asistente, recuerdos de su vida que abarcan de 1894 a enero de 1914. El resultado fue plasmado en cinco cuadernos manuscritos, que ahora se publican por primera vez. Complementan esta obra estudios introductorios de Guadalupe y Rosa Helia Villa Guerrero, nietas del general, un prólogo de Eugenia Meyer, y fotografías poco conocidas o inéditas del personaje.
