From the Publisher
"A rare treat--a thriller that blends some of modern history's most vexing enigmas with a hostile, perfectly-realized setting. This is one thriller that really delivers: great characters combined with a breakneck pace and almost unbearable suspense."—Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, co-authors of The Ice Limit and Relic

“Mercer [is] a combination of Dirk Pitt and James Bond.”—Sunday Oklahoman

“Combining plenty of thrills and a touch of romance, Du Brul’s action-packed contemporary adventure zips along like an out-of-control locomotive.…A well-researched foundation of facts and details grounds the reader in this frosty setting.…Mercer’s love interest, Dr. Anika Klein, is his fitting counterpart and a strong heroine, and their romance adds a degree of warmth to this swift, sensational tale. Those who enjoy a good adrenaline rush will find plenty here to satisfy.”—

Publishers Weekly
Combining plenty of thrills and a touch of romance, Du Brul's action-packed contemporary adventure zips along like an out-of-control locomotive as geologist Philip Mercer, the James Bond-like hero from the author's previous novels (Charon's Landing, etc.), becomes embroiled in another mission to save the world. Duped by a good friend, Mercer travels to the arctic to reopen a long-abandoned American base camp. In the process, he uncovers a dead body and, eventually, the Pandora Project, a Nazi mercenary's plot to unearth a deadly radioactive element and sell it to the highest bidder. In an effort to derail the project, Mercer leads his team on an arctic odyssey of narrow escapes and death-defying maneuvers in boat, dirigible, submarine and plane. A well-researched foundation of facts and details grounds the reader in this frosty setting, but the story is sometimes difficult to swallow: a cruise ship filled with the world's religious leaders gets caught in the middle of the fray, and Mercer winds up rescuing the Dalai Lama. Mercer's love interest, Dr. Anika Klein, is his fitting counterpart and a strong heroine, and their romance adds a degree of warmth to this swift, sensational tale. Those who enjoy a good adrenaline rush will find plenty here to satisfy. (Sept. 4) Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

This isn't the lovely Miss Jolie cavorting in an African cave, but there are a few similarities to the story we've all been told. This one involves a failed Nazi plot that fanatics wish to capitalize upon. If you have been reading the Mercer adventures in order, you probably already greatly envy him his streak of luck. How one man can get into so much trouble and come out smelling like roses .....

A thriller involving Nazi secrets, alien radioactive meteorites, a religious secret society from Rasputin's time, and a good guys/bad guys chase in arctic Greenland. This complicated tale may take you a couple of chapters to get into it, but what follows is worth the effort. Along the way the readers learns about things from classic submarines to the trials of artic survival. Great read.

I remember picking up Vulcan's Forge in the beginning of 1999. Never heard of this guy Jack DuBrul but the synopsis sounded good to me. So I bought it (Audio Unabridged. I only listen to books). Outstanding book. Went looking for more of his books. What this is the only one he has out. That can't be, the book was too good. But alas Charon¿s Landing is do out in April. After a big sigh of relief I ordered it from Brilliance audio books. The next April (2000) what do I see but Medusa Stone at my local bookstore. I thought I died and gone to Heaven. Went to Talking Book World and Bought Medusa Stone. This is just to cool here is a young Author that only has three books and they get better and better. I wondered what his next book would be. I know it would be good but could it top the rest. On Sept 5th I see Jack Dubrul¿s name on this book with a blow away cover had to order it over the Internet because Talking Book World did not have it yet and I could not wait. Pandora's Curse took me to a place that I had prayed never to be stationed at when I spent 20 years in the Air Force. Greenland. Jack¿s Pandora¿s Curse showed me parts of Greenland that I never thought could exist. The plot takes so many twist and turns that you feel like you have been on the worlds biggest Roller coaster ride I recommend to anyone that likes excitement and adventure.

Pandora's Curse will take you on a roller coaster thrill ride that will leave you totally exhausted. Phillip Mercer battles the elements in Greenland and Iceland to uncover a horrific Nazi secret from WWII. Jack Du Brul has used a great mix of humor, romance, and his trademark edge-of-you-seat action that will leave you wanting more. This is his best book yet! Move over Dirk Pitt! Phillip Mercer is here to stay!
