Overview

"Another boy band, not a chance, we sing for real and we can't dance," affirm Go Fish on "Alright," the lively, groove-laden opening track from Parade. It's an appropriate sentiment, because this trio's smooth harmonies (honed through years of performing as an a cappella trio) and bubbly pop sound foster easy comparisons to boy bands like Plus One and 'N Sync. But there's more rock pizzazz to Go Fish than any highly polished prefab pop band. They are no longer an a cappella group, and their sound on Parade blends elements of soul, jazz, rock, and modern electronica to give it a fresh, contemporary feel. Even slow ballads such as "Savior" offer richer textures amid the layered harmonies than one finds with the garden-variety boy band. And you have to hand it to Go Fish for their gutsy song choices. It takes a lot of courage to pull off a number such as "Chrome Fish," a bluesy, funky jam that takes on the bumper-sticker theology so prevalent today. When it comes to Christian pop without the high gloss, Go Fish will have you hooked.
