Picasso stole glances of himself in the mirror over the bar. He hoped he looked younger than his years and that his visit to the hair stylist, dermatologist and dentist had paid off. Altogether, it cost him eighteen hundred dollars for a stylish haircut, manicure, Botox, teeth whitening, and a fashionable wardrobe––probably the best money he’d spent in years from the way it made him feel. Oblivious to the wine snobs around him, he relaxed and sipped his Pinot Grigio––marveled at how calm he felt. But when Kate walked in at seven, his world rocked. He nearly fell off the barstool.
