All Music Guide - Jonathan Widran
The smooth jazz messiah and saxman critics love to hate but sells millions anyway returns with a few surprises. Most of the genre's big artists know Kenny G. has great chops, but skeptics will point to the few sappy ballads here and groan, "here we go again, more of the unchallenging stuff." Those folks should check out his one tenor tune, the rockin' blues jam "Midnight Magic," whose feisty energy is about as far from a slick, bland ballad as he can get. Everyone is challenged, from the saxman to producer Walter Afanasieff who fires up on Hammond B-3 and guitarist Phil Upchurch. A pity there aren't more tunes like that here, but in general, the saxman is on a more ...

Everyone is challenged, from the saxman to producer Walter Afanasieff who fires up on Hammond B-3 and guitarist Phil Upchurch. A pity there aren't more tunes like that here, but in general, the saxman is on a more rhythmic and exotic plane here, beginning with the jubilant tropicality of the opener, "Brazil" featuring a full orchestra and Afanasieff's funky keys, and extending through the flamenco-tinged romance "Spanish Nights." "Seaside Jam" and tunes like the title track combine the classic Kenny G. sound with a healthy dose of this type of groove. He has had loads of success with soulful crossover vocals and hits the mark this time with the dreamy urban adult contemporary songs "One More Time" with Chanté Moore and "All the Way" with Brian McKnight. Overall, this is one of Kenny G.'s best, which will work concurrent miracles of selling yet more millions and giving his detractors a song or two they actually might enjoy.

    An Excellent Listen

Tyler Giffey was absolutely wrong in his review. This is a wonderful album. Lots of fun, seductive, perfect for any occasion. One of Kenny's better albums.

Kenny G's Music Leaves Me "Breathless!"

What can I say? He's the most tallented musician in the world! I'd give him 6 stars if I could. His music inspires me & makes me appriciate life. His album, Paradise, is truly a wonderful thing to listen to. I'm proud to be one of his many, many fans out there. His music is so passionate & romantic. You can tell that he puts a lot of his heart into making his music. And hey-- he's just a great person all around! It's awsome to see someone as dedicated as he is. I'm looking forward to hearing more of his music in the future!

IF THERE WAS A ZERO STAR RATING I WOULD HAVE USED THAT

Horrible, absolutly horrible. Kenny G over the years has proved to be the opposite of anything that a good jazz saxophonist should be. I can't believe that I just used Kenny G and jazz in the same sentence. After hearing this music and reading his recent interview on this website, I have gone from not enjoing his music to absolutly despising him and everything he does, from butchering the saxophone to playing golf. I mean come on according to the last question in the interview, the man does not even enjoy listening to music, he'd rather play golf. For a man who has made a living by brainwashing unintelligent music buyers into buying his recordings, he should at least pay some homage to the people who do it right in his genre like Joe Lavano, Joshua Redman, Sonny Rollins, or Wayne Shorter to name a few. The man is a complete sensless fool. This recording is a horrible display of a beautiful instrument and anyone who buys this should seek out the closest pawn shop to get a portion of their lost funds back before it is too late.

    Another Great Kenny G Hit

I bought the CD yesterday the day it came out. It is another great hit! Kenny G has turned me onto soft jazz and now that is all I listen to. I hope to see him in concert someday.

    Once Again!!!!

Kenny G has done it again. I could say this is one of his best albums ever. It is going to be as famous as his album Breathless. If I were you, I would pick up my credit card and pre-order it today.
