Library Journal
One of Tokyopop's "Authentic Manga," this series tells the story of high school student Yukari Hayasaka, who has fallen in with a group of fashion design students who call themselves Paradise Kiss. During crunch time before college entrance exams, she had agreed to be their model for a school fashion show. This led not only to her running away from home and deciding to become a professional model but also to a tumultuous love affair with group leader George, a seemingly cold, bisexual fashion-design prodigy. The group also includes doll-like Miwako; her boyfriend, the punk guitarist Arashi; and Isabella, a kindly male transvestite. In this volume, Yazawa tells of the big fashion show and its outcome and introduces Kaori, a possible rival for George's affections. Yazawa puts a great deal of detail into her stylish black-and-white renderings of clothes, and she breaks the fourth wall occasionally with some amusing self-referential humor. Tokyopop originally published this series with a "13+" age designation, but after a pair of steamy sex scenes between teenagers in Volume 3, the entire series has been re-marked "16+". Recommended for larger adult collections. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.

    The long-awaiting Yaza Arts Show!!

This is the volume that reveals to you Paradise Kiss's amazing creation for the Yaza Arts show, and the results! The art is fantastic and out-of-this-world, as usual. Probably one of the most cherished moments of Paradise Kiss is in this volume. It is the best shoujo manga i've ever read.

wonderous and memorizing fashion that even vogue and 'W' would be proud of.

i adore fashion and i also love manga so it absolutely thrilled me that there would be a manga based upon fashion. But what thrilled me the most was the wonderful qoutes in the back of the book, but to get to the point i thought the art was really well done and the plot of the book was absolutely beautiful.

Punky, Preppy, and Gothic lolita = Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa

Review by Fuji Nagase----- Paradise kiss is a crazy romance and humor filled manga. the artwork, by Ai yazawa, is beautiful, and if I do say so myself the guys are like really hot! Of course, from some of my guy reader friends points of veiw, the girls are also super hot. The story is about a senior at Sei acadamy,[a super smart school] Yukari Hayasaka's adventure into the world she never knew. First, a strange loking boy, about her age tells her that she is the perfect model for his group's fashion show. The sheltered and very difficuly Yukari faints into a drag queen's arms, who was talking to the boy. The next thing Yukari knows, she the meets Arashi, [AKA the strange boy]who is a cool lokking punk guitarist[senior], Miwako who is a cute girl that often speeks in third person[senior], Isabella a dragqueen who likes to cook, and...well that's really all they say about her... him... AHRAGH![senior]and finally, the crazy boss character, George. The suave player who drives Yukari into the verse of insanity, finally loosens her up. Yukari agrees to model for the fashion show but later becomes dis-honest to her family about her where-abouts and gets into some real trouble. Her feelings float around everyday, trying to find a place. Her once dull fashion, sparks, and she finds out what she never wanted to nor knew existed. This is obviously not a normal manga! i gave it five stars for great art work, an exiting story, cool characters, good Philosophy , really good translations, and the crazy clothes that i love!!!! Volume four of paradise kiss, contains even more crazyness that you will find out soon, 'cause i won't tell you! hehe! AHAHAHAHA!!!!!! by Fuji Nagase
